Hi there, There seems to be a bug in the "send to Illustrator" feature using Arc broswer (which is chromium based and compatible), if I try to send to AI I end up dowloading the AI installer .dmg file and a message prompting to install AI to start. On Chrome it works. Could it be a bug or maybe some browser setting? Thanks for any help. L

Hello, I had a similar case solved just because MacOS (or the user) didn't grant InDesign access to "desktop" or "download folder" etc or even "complete disk access". Do check those settings in System Settings > Privacy and Security > File and Folders and check whether InDesign has all the right switches set up.

same here: surprise surprise, worked from day one, now no more GLB are selectable in iPhone, regardless of version, cloud type. iOS update messed with something? Anyway Adobe Aero IS NOT USABLE ANYMORE. Goodbye Aero.

I know this is an old post, anyway for the records: even now (feb 2024) this is not working and it's probably some kind of bug in regexp parsing by Sign, because the syntax is working when combined in more complex formulas, anyway you can use a working synonym as: ^[0-9]{6}$ this works. Why not the other? Dunno.

To make it work as expected (until Adobe updates app with a proper preference option) and without any use of PLIST Editors or XCode (which you might not have or be comfortable with) do this: Open "user">library>Preferences and find com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist [to open user's library folder you can click on Finder's "GO" menu while pressing OPTION key and you should see it there] Use an editor like BBEdit to open com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist file [it's binary encoded, TextEdit won't work] FIND the string "Honor" and you should get to a parameter named "HonorOSTheme". Just after the end of that <array/> tag, insert the following: <key>HonorSystemScrollerPref</key> <array> <integer>0</integer> <true/> </array> Save and exit execute terminal "sudo killall cfprefsd" Acrobat now has scrolling bars always visible (if you set up "always" in MacOS preferences>Appearance>Show Scroll bars). Please see the attached screenshot on where to insert the array. **This HAS TO BE temporary!!** It works but we need this preference toggle inside Acrobat Pro Preferences panel asap...

Yes, it seems to work in Ventura 13.6 too, click down or up and you see a ghost of scrollbar to catch asap. It works also in Bookmarks and Pages panels. BUT it does NOT work in PDF Portfolio document lists, when you have a portfolio made of several files it's always impossible to get a scrollbar, this is nuts, navigating a long list of documents with keyboard is slow as hell due to the rendering of every page.. Not everyone has a trackpad/mousewheel always available..

This is not a correct answer at all. The thing is: if you stretch the object (eg. by using size) you texture will be stretched as well as this transformation is applied to the object "as whole" so including texture. If you use a Basic Shape and change the height in the shape property ("cube"), once you convert it to a standard object your texture won't be stretched at all as the object is "born" with zero stretching. You can do this only on basic shapes, not on existing objects, as Dimension (and bigber brother Stager) is not a modeler, so stretching will always happen and, maybe, you can get some sort of fix by manually distorting the content of the UV map.

Thanks, I had the suspect. This is impacting training and consulting in quite a big way, let alone it's complicated to outsource form creation, not all companies can easily create guest/consultant accounts.

Hi there, what if if you have a complex template being developed and tested in a personal Sign account (= not related to the final customer) and need to transfer it to the client's Sign account? Is that possible without re-creating all fields and logic from scratch? Downloading files from library seems to flatten all the work except for basic appearance. Any other way?

Yeah this is the only way at the moment. To make it even simpler you can do it with the keyboard only: CMD+N > right arrow > left arrow > enter (I guess in Win too)

Hey there, short answer:nope! I do not think we are facing the same issue as mine is not connected to Wi-Fi but with focusing out and back the InDesign app. In my case a new user solves the trouble (but as soon as I reinstall some unknown config or file or app it comes back). Since you're talking about Internet access I would test everything like dns, firewalls, anti malware, policies etc. and I also remind you that if you happened to install some "anti-Adobe" (don't say the name) stuff they might have blocked some server ip addresses using the "hosts" system file or similar. Unfortunately Adobe support seems to get stuck in a loop in these situations as they try to "reproduce the bug on our system" of course it might be impossible to get the right combination of damages and that's blocking any further help...

Hi there, I'm experiencing spinning wheel issues since years no matter if I reinstall everything, change hardware and clean install. There might be a lot of different issues in InDesign ending up with spinning wheel. Open Activity monitor and check if you see one or more (usually more) tasks named CEPHtmlEngine. Force quit those tasks all together (not the "helper") and quickly go back to ID and check if it's back to normal speed. Be aware that those tasks will be reopened automatically afted a very short amount of time, but you might have time to check whether they are the cause of ID spinning wheels. If this is the case that's a a very BAD and possibly not endorsed by Adobe method to solve (on MAC): - quit InDesign - go to Applications folder and find your InDesign app icon (no, not in the dock!) - right click and select "show package content" - navigate to Contents/MacOS/CEP/CEPHtmlEngine folder - RENAME CEPHtmlEngine file to something easy to revert like "CEPHtmlEngine_" (need to enter your Mac admin pw) - restart InDesign. Process won't start again, be aware you WILL LOSE some features like the home page, the "new" new document window, and some icons in page layout (lock, link warnings etc) but InDesign should work basically great anyway. Remember you can set preferences to use the "legacy" new document window and it will open, as it does not contains any HTML related UI. - When you need to go back to your normal operation or miss something in the UI you need, just rename back the file to the original name Yes it's terrible, I know, but it really works for me, while I wait (since years) for a solution from Adobe. Take care and let me know.

Hi there, this is silly: issue is still there, untouched, even after InDesign 2020 15.1.1 installed! Anyway, no, deleting the packaged fonts folder is not solving the problem. Take a look at the video, maybe will be easier than reading... Same, same, same, same behavior: 1) Spinning ball when focusing into a specific document (not all) 2) Spinning ball time proportional to doc lenght, layers and font numbers (from 2-3 sec to 40+ secs!) 3) Reducing document complexity proportionally reduces spinning ball time, but not eradicates it 4) Changing ALL fonts and styles into a single font seems to solve 5) Creating a new user on Mac and running from there opens complex document with NO spinning ball 6) Apparently not related to font managers 7) Definitely font related, a LOT of font folders (and settings folders) reading is detected by spoofing OS activity. ... I'm now living with this problem since 5-6 years... even still there after 2 Mac hardware change and clean install. Puzzled. Will keep investigating.

Hi, confirm making a new user is solving - at least my version of - the spinning ball! Now really need to deep dive and understand the real cause because it's really impossible to use ID in a new user environment. L.

UPDATE to this issue: - InDesign works fine just by making a new user on MacOS (same machine, same documents) - It means it's some sort of interaction with user preferences or other software I have investigated file access I have investigang Spinning Ball freeze using opensnoop via terminal and found it's probably really font related: This is with Spinning Ball freezing: a lot of accesses to fonts (in this case Document Fonts local folder) - as you can see it's several seconds of waiting. CPU usage is not high. This is with the new user, no spinning ball: no accesses to fonts. Anyone has suggestions?

Yes Jeff, I did. This is a real bug, very serious, and it's not a newbie "reset your preferences" stuff. This renders an InDesign workstation totally unusable on large works. This needs more attention by Adobe support team. I got a mail from a guy from the developer/support team exactly one year after my inquiry.

Meaning no offence, but if I did that I would expect hours of useless tests (as per KB articles) and moreover I believe the spinning ball is not really detectable via remote screen sharing... confusing even more... this is really too difficult to diagnose remotely. I will leave it as a remote last chance.

Hi there, I think I'm facing the very same problem, and was't able to get rid of it even doing a clean reinstall after buying a new MacBook Pro! Recap: - InDesign goes in ball-spinning mode every time I come back to the application from other windows (eg: going to finder or browser, then go back to InDesign) - Spinning is proportional to document length, could be undetectable but after 50+ pages gets some seconds - I have a 500 pages document where I'm waiting 1:40 minutes after each change of window focus!! - It is font related for sure - Changing all fonts to something different (eg. Times New Roman) solves the issue - I'm using Font Explorer Pro but also tried without it, even never installing it on the new machine, no change - Experiencing it on High Sierra on MacBook Pro 2012 and then on Mojave on the very new MacBook Pro 2018 with no time machine restore but a clean install from zero. No preferences, settings, plugins, font manager were imported. Just plain InDesign freshly downloaded from CC app - The only thing that stays the same is my Fonts collection. I guess there's something InDesign is checking about fonts everytime you focus back to the app, like font changes, font un/installations or stuff like that. Seems this "check" is done on each text frame that's why the waiting time it's proportional to doc length - Of course tried all the most common "customer care copy/paste solutions", please refrain from posting "reset preferences" again, thanks.. - Of course, the very same document package including fonts, sent to colleagues with the same Mac & InDesign are working fine, AND they work fine on a PC. NO SOLUTION at the moment. Totally stuck. Adobe InDesign developers are in touch, send them docs and movies but cannot replicate it. Help.

Hello there Gianluca, I'm having the same issue as "fill&sign" is not a certificate-based signature and cannot work in real EU digital workflows. Here's a definitely, not officially endorsed by Adobe, workaround which is actually working: 1) Start the "request a signature" workflow 2) Just use a secondary email of yours (or an alias), not your AdobeID email, as recipient 3) Prepare the document and send it 4) Get the mail from Adobe from your alias address (not the one from your AdobeID!), copy the link for signing the document from your mail or browser 5) Open it in a private session of your browser, so you won't get tracked as the sender 6) Sign with your own cloud certificate 7) Download the signed copy, with just one signature and the alias email which should be not a problem, especially if you use a clear self-referenced one Seems a little bumpy to pass trough the Internet for your own signature but as a side-advantage you're getting eIDAS compliant timestamp. I guess Adobe will re-introduce self-signing soon or might change the workflow, meanwhile this is working for me as of February 2019. Cheers.

Thanks, all you say is very logical, although I of course did all the IDML cycle with no benefits. This matter seems related to this very old issue cited in my main post, where pasting from old documents might bring along information like wrong or old paths that need to be checked/cleaned.. Unfortunately cannot change workflow for this documents so would rather understand what's going on..

Sure, reset preferences many times, and moreover did a total platform switch with clean install.. no way. It is specific to the document and also seems related to document length.
