I am getting a bit bamboozeled by all the new GPU technologies from NVIDIA: Pascal, Turing, Ray tracing, RTX, GTX. I just want a graphics card that will help Lightroom and Photoshop perform to the best of their abilities. I’m fortunate that I could afford a $400 card if that really improved performance, but I’m not sure that’s necessary, or is it? I notice that Puget Systems used to use the GTX 1060 as their base card, but now are using the RTX 2060 - which is a more expensive card. Can anyone shed some light on this subject for me?

Thanks. I had just read that - very interesting. PugetSystems were previously building their LR PCs with the 1060. Seems they are now using the RTX 2020. I was wondering if they knew about some future LR upgrade that will take advantage of this.

I generally use two monitors with LR. As I am moving through the grid view on one monitor I display a full image on my other monitor. Does the GPU affect the speed of this or is it all down to the speed of the CPU? I was plannong on buying a GTX 1060 and probably a i7 9700k or i9 9900k CPU. Any relative advice much appreciated.

I have two Dell U2415 monitors that are wide-gamut. I currently use a non-10bit card. I am building a PC and wondering if I should go with a MSI - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6 GB GAMING X Video Card or get something like a Quadro P2000. Any thoughts?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question.... I'm about to build a new PC and want to make sure that I get all of the critical components necessary. I am not constrained by budget and my emphasis is on making LR sing and dance - especially browsing through images and the Develop module. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I appreciate what you've written here Trevor. I’m trying to spec out my new build which will be primarily for LR and PS. I was thinking of something similar to your configuration. Question for you, do you think there’s any advantage to using a Samsung 960 m.2 for the LR catalog over a standard SSD like the Samsung 860? I was even thinking of getting a 1TB SSD for my image files rather than a HDD. I know it can be a case of diminishing returns but if there’s a reasonable benefit I may do this. I’m fortunate in that I don’t have to watch every penny, but I also don’t want to throw money away.

OK. Thanks - and then once I've done that in Dreamwaever do I just go to the Insert>Media>FLV option and select streaming video. What is the difference between the streaming and progressive options?

I have a 10MB flash file that I have uploaded to my website. No idea if this is large or small for a Flash file! The Flash appears on my index.html page. I have noticed that different browsers react differently, but when I open the page initially the video does not start playing straight away. I'm using Dreamweaver. Is there a setting I should set? Any pointers? Thanks.

Yes I do have that. However, when I click Finish at the end of the wizard, the video is on the stage but I only get one frame marked. When I press ctrl-Enter the video plays. Do I need to set something to "expand" the movie on the timeline?

I don't see the option. I'm using CS4. My steps are: File>Import>Import video Load external video with playback component I click Next, select no skin. I then get a screen telling me where the video is located etc.

I have a feeling this is a really basic question, but I am pretty new to Flash. I've imported an FLV file. This file is a slideshow of photographs with a Ken Burns effect already applied. I was hoping that I would be able to see the video frames on a timeline. What I then want to be able to do is jump to different frames (approximately where the photo changes) as a result of clicking buttons. I thought this would be a good project to do in Flash as a way to learning. Lots of help needed Thanks,
