I had an interview that was filmed recently but I guess they recorded in camera as 32 bit? Who knows, but I installed CS6 from the creative cloud and it worked fine in there. So I exported from CS6 to a better codec. Yes, that's a ton of work. Maybe you could XML the projects which have 32bit and edit in older versions of Premiere. I would at least install CS6 and CC 7.0 while they are still offering that as an option. Use the drop-down in Creative Cloud and select other versions.

This is kind of an annoying epic fail. I just had to install a previous version because of the 32 bit issue. You can always install older versions and hang onto them in Creative Cloud. Thanks, Adobe for keeping the people working in the Documentary film world on our toes. Like we don't have anything better to do!

If you use the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop you should be able to click the down arrow beside "Open" and choose Other Versions and download from there. DK if that's obvious, but hope your projects are working now!

It would be great if you could make a preset bin with the files in it. DK if that is possible. You can just import that folder into every new project you create. That what I do currently.

So you have the project open and you've finished. Now you want to create a folder with the finished .prproj in it. Why are you copying the project file instead of saving it to the new location? Moving a project file is taking your life in your hands. 50/50 it will open. Be sure to archive an XML too!

I also had what seems to be a situation where Premiere zapped source files. Upon opening the project, the footage was red media missing, I linked to the source file and zap, the original footage file went from 20gigs to 200kb. This is a serious glitch and will cost people a ton of money if they don't fix it ASAP. I suggest, if you still have a copy of all the original files, make several copies to different hard drives. I had another copy of my files. I then went into the creative suite on my desktop and downloaded CS6. I pulled up the footage in CS6 and I'm exporting it right now as ProRez. You could possibly look in the Auto Save and export an XML of the edit so far. Download the older version of Premiere, CC2017 and pull in the XML in a more stable environment. This is if you still have copies of the original footage. I don't know how to recover the footage if it's zapped.

I was working in a project I hadn't opened for about 6 months. I have updated to 2018 since editing this project. So I have footage from a Sony cam, MOV, 3 of them. They were red media missing in my timeline. So I linked them back to the source file. No, go. Then I look at the files on my hard drive and they've gone from 20 gig files to 200kb files. I thought, oh crap somehow these files got messed up. I wait for a new hard drive from the client, make a copy of the files on my HD. I'm thinking I'm in business. I try linking and zap, there goes the source file again. This is beyond terrifying. Anyone know what's going on? I plan on deleting and reinstalling CC 2018. I hope to encode the original files and replace the current clips in the timeline. But this is very concerning. I will figure something out, but how can Premiere Zap the original files? Everything is suspect! Thanks in advance for any words of advice. I've been using Premiere since the late 90's and I've never seen this!

Once you apply the g-wipe, click the dissolve on the footage and it will turn from beige to like grey, then it's active to edit in EffCtrl.
