I am not able to edit the previous reply. I think Foxit has the answer, https://kb.foxit.com/hc/en-us/articles/360061571672-Why-cannot-get-file-name-displaying-when-open-a-pdf-file-but-only-file-title But I cannot check it off. There must be a similar option in Acrobat.

Dear Amal, That preference, I have already selected and it is working. I want to open 2 instances of the same document. Let us instance 1 will show the paragraph body and instance 2 will show the reference list of drawings. Is this possible. If not can you please request a feature? Sajit

It may not be view settings. I had used the wrong term. It is the menu bar items that do not stay put. Please see the snapshots in the thread above. Can this be a Windows issue or an application one? It had worked before, but does not now. The MS Office Acrobat Addin is not compatible with MS Office 2013 or 2016. The method to create PDFs from MS Word, crashes. Here again, the solution on offer is to upgrade to the next Acrobat version.

Hello Meenakshi, It is Adobe Acrobat Pro 11. I know it is not supported by Adobe. However, It does get regular online updates. It was working ok until now. What makes it malfunction? It can only be the updates from Adobe. Is this an intentional strategy to make users upgrade? Sajit

No, there isn't any script. This happens with multiple doc files that are created from Word. I think the setting, preferences > Documents > Restore last view settings when reopening documents, is about the view of a document when opened again and not about the menu bar. This is what it turns out to be, and this is what I want it to be,

Even after making the setting in the preferences > Documents > Restore last view settings when reopening documents. It does not stay put. Can anyone please help? I don't think 'Creating PDFs' is the right community. But I cannot help, it forces me to take something.

Why does a Shared review file prompt it to be saved after the comments are published? On trying to save it will tell you that the shared location cannot be used for saving, instead if I would like to point another location to save. If I point to another location, this saved file becomes another copy that can connect to the shared comment. Not sure if comments can be published from the additionally saved file. If so, will this also appear for the others who are using the original file? Is this intentional? I don't think it should not prompt for a save after publishing comments.

I did a shared review using the Wizard to host the file on the Company SharePoint site. The document link that comes on the notification email, opens only in the browser. The file association setting for Windows for .PDF point to the Acrobat Pro 11. Because it opens in the browser, the options to export the comments are dimmed or not available in the browser Adobe interface.

Is there any 3rd party applications for PDF shared review. The Adobe acrobat one is difficult to use and there isn't a way that the comments list can be managed. Reviewers need to be able to collaborate by interacting on the comments already made. This has to happen in a comments list such as the one like www.eng-tips.com which keeps a thread together.

Why does not Adobe give an option to open a PDF on a network drive with a notification when the file becomes available for edit. This functionality is there for any MS Office file. This will allow me to update with comments or mark-ups. I do not want to go with a shared review and the rest of the workflow that is associated with it.

I am using Acrobat XI pro in shared review. I want to extract the comments to, preferably an Excel file to manage the resolution of the comments in a tabulated form. I see that in the comments, the option available is to export to Word. But on trying to do so gives me a message that the PDF I am working on is not a tagged one. "Change conversion settings from Adobe PDF menu and check the box labeled, enable accessibility and reflow with tagged PDF". I am not able to see where the settings are available in the XI pro. Can anyone please help, how I may convert to a tagged PDF?

In the shared review option there is only the option to convert the comments into the initiators name or exclude the comments. I want to have the comments under the names of whoever made them and send the commented file for a further shared review. The shared review may include some or all of the reviewers who have already made comments in the document. currently it only allows either change every comment to my name or remove all the comments.

The Windows file system has a property attribute for all types of files, called tags. This is enabled and allows the user to edit for .jpg, MS office files and some others. For PDF this attribute 'tag' is not used by Adobe within the acrobat. Adobe and Microsoft should get together and spare PC users by allowing to edit this tag for PDF files. This could be something to do with Microsoft trying to promote their own version of the xps. .xps do allow the edit of tags. Unfortunately PDF came before and is monopolizing the field. One will have to wait until xps becomes popular to get out of this monopoly.
