Great, thank you. I saw that software. If I were a full-time production house, I'd get it but @ $32/mo. I'll just be aware that anything I "crop" from Illustrator in Indesign isn't really a crop but a mask leaving crumbs in the PDF.

The only way I figured out how to do it was to crop the artboard in Illustrator only for the area of interest, then export the artboard to a PDF. That way Illustrator did the cutting and I still had a vector image. KDP suggested converting to raster but the fine lines of the map looked terrible. So, I went with the cropped PDF from Illustrator and it worked as needed. Good to know about the "fake" cropping in Indesign. You're right - how could ID really "crop" anything like that. Always learning something new in the desktop publishing world.

Are you familiar with the "wireframe view" that KDP support sent over? I've not been able to find that in Indesign, Acrobat, or Acrobat Reader? That'd be really helpful to know what program could show that so I can avoid issues in the future. Good to know on the PDF issue - I learn something new in DTP all the time.

Once I took the maps I created in Indesign, cropped the artboard down to the area of interest, exported that portion of the AI file to a PDF, and re-imported into Indesign, the file would pass the check. Why does Indesign not actually truly "crop" the AI file but leaves a hidden pile of crumbs?

Here's a weird one. It seems cropping an image in Indesign leaves artifacts sometimes. I'm having trouble with uploading to Amazon KDP - their system is saying there's text too close to the margin. But it's totally invisible in the PDF. But their system catches it. Attached is the wireframe from Amazon support showing hidden graphics in a wireframe view. How do you do wireframe view? Also, attached is the warning from their book review system - it's catching hidden text. I've also attached the Indesign screencap of the page with the graphic clearly cropped. It seems Indesign is hiding the text/graphics but it's actually still inside the PDF somehow. How can one see the Wireframe mode? Adobe Acrobat, Reader, Indesign? This would be helpful in the future to know to avoid this weird problem.

Dropbox V139.4.4896 As soon as I updated PS, it broke the Save for Web interface. My dropbox rev hasn't changed (that I know of). Something in PS broke. Please fix - we rely on Save for Web to keep file sizes manageable.

Is there a setting to automatically add an arrowhead to the end of a path in Photoshop CC? I'm trying to draw a path to lead a viewer with an arrow at the end. This is super-easy to do in Illustrator. I'm creating a path shape so I can tweak the thickness as needed. But I just need an arrowhead at the end of the stroked path. I'm trying to avoid adding a arrowhead shape layer from the shapes panel to the end of every line. That adds a lot of work Is there a way to automatically add a simple arrowhead to a path? It's easy enough to add an arrowhead to a straight line, but how does one do this for a curved path.

I'm having lots of trouble with ID 16.1 on Big Sur 11.2.3. It hangs and locks the system up constantly (once per half hour if not more frequently). Sometimes I can get the computer to recover by closing the lid for a moment. The upgrade to OS 11.2.3 caused this problem. Under 11.2.2, 11.2.1, ID worked quite well. Avoid the 11.2.3 update if at all possible if you use ID 16.1 Macbook Air M1, 8-core, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 800GB free, no real system load.

I've got auto numbering active in the main part of the text using numbered lists that jump frames/threads. However, those numbers naturally come into the TOC. When I add numbered lists to the TOC, then I end up with 2 numbers (as expected). (TOC pulls in the auto-generated #'s in the text, as expected, and adding a right-aligned numbered list to the TOC entry style creates the double entries, as expected) How do I remove the auto-generated numbers from the area title that the TOC brings in so I can use the numbered list generated by the TOC entry style? (area #'s are autogenerated) That's the crux - either remove the number from the text the TOC brings in and add in a right-aligned numbered list in the TOC style, or figure out how to right-align the auto-generated #s that come in from the page text.

Is there a way to right-align a first set of numbers (like a chapter number) in a TOC while having the chapter (area) title left align, then have the page #'s right align? As you can see in the screenshot, the location numbers are left aligned. they should be right-aligned. There are over 100 entries, so this needs to be automatic to all of the #'s look right-aligned tabular. In the book's text, there's a paragraph style with an autogenerated numbered list then the location name, so I was hoping that'd help. I tried setting the TOC entry style to tabular under OpenType but the setting doesn't do anything when there's no leading zero to fix tabular #'s. Attached is the look I need from another book I have. I'm trying to replicate the TOC look. We don't want periods after the area number (so align on period doesn't work in this case). The area numbers are autogenerated from the technique in this post in the paragraph style for the area title: https://creativepro.com/setting-up-numbered-lists-that-jump-frames-in-cs3/ I found this posting: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/how-to-align-toc-text-after-section-number/td-p/9955385 But the tabular figures option in OpenType didn't do anything, as there's no leading 0. I'm using PS 22.1.1 and getting hangs and crashes. I try to save for web and the program just locks up with a beach ball. I've had other tasks where the program just shuts down without warning. This version is very unstable and buggy. I've not had this much trouble in a very long time.
When will a fix be released? I'm going back to using PS 21.x
I'm using OS 10.14.6, iMac 2018, Radeon Pro 580 8 GB, 2TB SSD, 64 GB memory

https://youtu.be/5eEp6uIIjII I show you how to anchor an image into the text in Indesign CC so it stays with the text when doing an EPUB export. This method forces the picture to stay where you want it in the text even though the image floats around on the Indesign layout. This will not affect where the picture appears in a PDF export but only fixes the position in an EPUB export in Indesign CC.

The tech suggested using PS's multi-import tool but that doesn't apply the edits from LRC. The only "solution" I've found is to select all pictures, open them at once in PS, rename, then duplicate layers into a single file. It's okay for 2-3 files, but I have stacked images with 16 individual shots. And I have 20 items that need stacking. This was a 2-3 hour process. Now it's looking to be a 8+ hour process from the manual work. 😞

Is there any solution to the Edit in Layers bug in Lightroom. I have to stack 4-20 images, then blend them in PS. Before CC (PS CS6 / LR 5.7 / LR 6 worked perfectly), I could select a group of images, right click, selection Edit In -> Open as Layers in Photoshop, and after a few minutes, all of the images would be stacked into a single PSD file. Now, the sequence just halts after 2 images. Things that haven't worked: I've tried opening PS before starting the process. Shutting off Preferences->Performance->Use Graphics Processor Clearing space on my hard drive Reinstalling LRC and PS Updating Camera Raw again to 12.3 I have the latest LRC, PS, and camera raw. Nothing works. I spent (wasted) 2 hours on tech support chat, until the tech finally said that this bug is supposed to be fixed in the next release. This bug has existed for 4+ years now. Does anyone have a solution/fix that makes this very important process work again? Thanks!!
