InDesign 16.2 - Native Metal API support, improvements to variable fonts and more!
InDesign 16.2 is now available for download from the Creative Cloud desktop app.
The update will be rolled out in a phased manner and many of you might not see the updates as of today as it has been made live for Australia, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Netherlands and Switzerland based Adobe IDs. We will be rolling out the updates to all by the end of the week.
This update provides native support for the macOS Metal API, feature improvements to variable fonts, multiple bug fixes, and performance improvements.

Check out What’s new in InDesign 16.2:
- Native Support for macOS Metal API: Improved drawing performance of InDesign application on macOS devices that support Metal.
- Map Optical Size to Font Size automatically: The optical size is by default mapped to the font size for the variable fonts in your text. If you do not want to retain this change, you can uncheck it from Preferences ( In macOS, go to InDesign > Preferences > Type and in Windows, go to Edit > Preferences > Type ).

For more information, see Automatic mapping of Optical Size in Variable fonts to Font Size
