Discuss: Hardware Acceleration Decode for 4:2:2 10 bit H264/HEVC now available on MAC ARM Beta

With the latest Adobe Premiere Pro Beta build, we have enabled Hardware Acceleration decode of HEVC/H264 4:2:2 10 bit on Mac ARM systems. This means that your import performance for files that use this codec will be faster.

If you have a MAC Arm machine, this feature is enabled by default on Premiere Pro.

We recommend that you please clean your media cache once for optimal performance.

This is now available in Beta for Adobe Premiere Pro (Mac ARM), and Adobe Media Encoder (Mac ARM).

Please try it and let us know your feedback.

Hi @PiterSpb,

We have tested different 422 10bit H.264 files and it's working fine in the latest Premiere Beta version. For ex. media from Sony A7S III camera. You can try it and let us know your feedback.

Regarding similar implementations on Windows, we are looking into it.   We will update you when it's implemented on Windows also.

Thanks,
Mayjain

Any word on similar implementations for Intel Quick Sync on Windows? The Intel 11th gen processors support pretty much every flavor of HEVC on a hardware level, but I believe Premiere Pro only supports hardware accelerated decoding of HEVC 4:2:0 8-bit and 4:2:0 10-bit.
