We are excited to announce the addition of two highly requested features, Custom Watermark & Embedded Captions Support, to your Proxy workflow in Premiere Pro (Beta).

Custom Watermark

With this latest enhancement, you can now personalize your proxies with custom watermarks. This enables you to maintain a clear distinction between proxy and source media, enhancing visual clarity so you’re less likely to get mixed up.

How Does it Work?

To enable custom watermark, go to the “Create Proxies” option from your media and select the “Choose a file” option from the Watermark dropdown. From there you can upload any image of choice which you can then see in your media in the Source panel after it is rendered by the media encoder.

Key Benefits:

  • Visual Differentiation: Custom watermarks will help with clear identification of proxy-enabled media, minimizing confusion during the editing process.
  • Personalized Editing Experience: Customize proxy watermarks provide a personalized editing experience, instead of relying solely on the default Proxy icon.

Embedded Captions Support

By enabling Embedded Caption Support, you can seamlessly create proxies from high-resolution media that contains embedded captions  Maintaining captions across proxy and high-resolution files allows you to engage in uninterrupted editing sessions while ensuring accessibility and consistency in your projects.

Key Benefits:

  • Streamlined Integration: Embedded caption support empowers your to work seamlessly across proxy and high-resolution media, without compromising on the presence or integrity of captions.

We invite you to explore the capabilities of Custom Watermark & Embedded caption support and share your feedback with us. Feel free to share your comments and let us know what other functionality you’d like to see us build!

Wanted to have a quick look but I think something is wrong. I updated Premiere/Media Encoder. 24.4.0b30

1. I don't see the new menu with "Choose a file..."

2. After proxy creation the file got attached to the clip in the project but it's not showing up on the clip as icon or is visible in the program monitor somehow despite saying it is present in the info panel.

3. I notice that the original file has the embedded LUT enabled which the proxy created from it doesn't. Ideally it would honor this setting or at least give an option to include or exclude to the user.

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. Lets tackle each one:
  1. Missing “Choose a file...” Menu: This feature became available starting with the 24.4x31 build as part of the public beta. Please ensure your app is updated to this build or a later version to access this feature.
  2. Proxy icon not visible: It sounds like you’ve encountered a refresh glitch that’s already known. It works eventually, else try relaunching Premiere.
  3. LUT Not Applied to Proxy: Could you provide more details about your expected workflow? In the current implementation, the LUT is not permanently baked to the proxy. Instead, it’s applied to both the original clip and its proxy when you import the clip, then go to Modify > Color to add a LUT, and create a proxy.

Hey Nishi! Thanks for the reply. I was, and still am on holidays! I will have a look again next week when I'll be back at the office and update here.
