Now in Beta: Smoother scrubbing & better audio when accelerating playback

In the current, shipping version of Premiere Pro, starting playback, then accelerating that playback results in the CTI (the Current Time Indicator, also known as the playhead), skipping ahead, briefly pausing, then starting again. This skipping is often accompanied by an audio pop.  It's particularly noticable when you're scrubbing quickly around the timeline using the JKL keys.

Here's what it currently looks like. I hit L to start playback, hit L again at the first timeline marker to accelerate playback, and again at the second marker.

I'm very glad to announce that we've fixed this problem in Premiere Pro Beta, v25.6 build 7 and later. Accelerating playback - both forwards and backwards - should now feel smooth and will happen without any audio popping.

Here's how it now works in Premiere Pro Beta.

We'd love to get your feedback on this change!

Regards,

Fergus
