[Released] Now in beta: update to support for H.264 in MOV and MP4
Update: this change was released in v25.1 of Adobe's video applications.
Beta versions of Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Media Encoder now include a major update to the technology that handles H.264 in MOV and MP4 containers. The goal of this update is to improve quality and make it easier for us to make changes quickly.
Customers should also see performance improvements in three difference scenarios:
- On lower-end computers, customers should expect to see better performance of formats that are challenging to play back smoothly. For example, play back of 60 fps video from the Sony a7S III on a 8 GB MacBook Air M1 should be noticeably smoother.
- On higher-end computers, the update enables more tracks of video to be played back smoothly.
- On both computer types, export performance should be improved, particularly for complex projects.
Support for HEVC / H.265 will be added in an upcoming beta.
While this change isn’t something that’s visible in the interface of our products, it is a major update. We are eager to get your feedback!
Thanks,
Fergus
