Share Links not being retained in Adobe InDesign doc used in a book

When using a the "Share for Review" for an .indd document (that's also part of an .indd book) containing multiple links to other PDFs, the link is not being retained. It creates a link, but then it vanishes and doesn't give the "Update Content" option when new changes have been made. 

It should be maintaining the link so "Update Content" can be selected as changes are made without creating an all new link each time.
