InDesign 2025 keeps crashing and saying files are damage

From last week to this week, InDesign 2026 has been crashing constantly. It does autosave, but even when it recovers, it still reports that the file is damaged. In addition, when the program opens, my settings—such as my workspace—are not saved, as if everything resets on its own.

This has become extremely frustrating. I have many projects to complete for my job, and these issues are slowing me down and causing significant inconvenience.

Sorry, you did post this in the Stock forum. The InDesign Team uses a different mean to do bug reporting: https://indesign.uservoice.com/

Posting here will not help to solve your issue. Sorry for that.

Same issue, doesn’t seem to matter where I save things. Initially it just happened in ID26 but now 25 is having issues as well - though this might be due to linked files.

I read about the Windows updates, but the offending Windows update has since been fixed and superceeded. Likewise with un/reinstalling, no change.

I will say that regular sving helps mitigate the damage doen when it does crash, and sometimes despite the error the file is in fact fine. But I’m losing my mind with this happening all the time on every file I try.

I’d do anything to just have a single, stable version of Adobe programmes - maybe from like 2007 before all this subscription nonsense!

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled 2025 and 2026 versions several times and still having issues.  But I just saved all files to my desktop - no longer in One Drive as previously - and it seems to be working ok.  I’m going to go with it’s an InDesign/One Drive/iCloud conflict, I read other people saying the same thing on another post.

Same issue. Every file I work on, it says can’t save because file is damaged. I’m working in Windows also.

I have the same issued on Windows. No problems pre-update. Have un-installed and re-installed, still a problem.

Going to see if I can roll back to a previous version.

I have reinstalled version 20.5.1 seems more stable. Sometimes have to save file direct to desktop and then copy of OneDrive/Sharepoiint afterwards.

I have the exact same problem, super frustrating. Btw, I’m working on Windows - I read somewhere that the problem could be linked to one of the last Windows updates.
