Search Sorting errors

I have noticed a bug that happens when a customer sorts search results... Here is an example

- Search the following keywords

"beach destination dune face fun funny happy nature portrait relax sand"

- The result is 3 images.

- Change the 'Sort by' from relevance to 'most recent' or 'downloads' and the Premium images disappear from the results leaving only one image.

Looks like a bug to me, any ideas?

I don't think so. We don't know exactly how "relevance" is determined. I assume that it includes only images that all of the keywords in the search box. Then if you sort by "most recent" you see only the latest image uploaded. Then if you sort by "Downloads", you see only the images that every been downloaded.

Hi Jill, Thank you for your reply, but I think you may be getting sorting mixed up with filtering. Applying filters will change the results of a search whereas sorting will just change the order in which the results are displayed.

In relation to this example, the premium images in this search are actually newer than the standard image as you can see by the File#. So even if it was applying a filter, it would be getting this wrong by excluding the newer images.

You can try any search that returns a mix of premium and standard images and you will find that it ALWAYS excludes premium images when sorting is switched to 'most recent' or 'downloads'. It is a very consistent error.

Is this the best place to report bugs?

It is hard to tell if it is a bug or not. We have no way of knowing how the search scoring is totaled up. You can report this to customer support but I would not expect to get a reply. Search scoring is a secret.
