Adobe Express link only gives 404 not found error msg

Hello community

I published an Express doc as a 'link only' and it worked initially.

I then had to make changes, so when done I clicked 'update link' to presumeably transfer the chnges to the file on the link. Then it said it couldn't update the file (several tries). Then I deleted the link as it suggests to 'republish'. Now I get the red error msg saying it can't publish and any previous link leads to a 404 error msg page.

I just want to generate a new public link to my latest file. Do you only get one public link per file?

Thanks for your help - am thrying to get a signed-off Annual Report to a client.

Hi @timc57343945,

Our product team is unable to see your document. Is it possible for you to share the document with me via private message?

Hi @Tarun Saini I did that at the very start of this process, assuming that creating a new version would generate a new, unaffected link as a workaround, but it doesn't. My post on 4 Sept notes that. To my surprise any new link in any new file is also to an error 404 page.

So no, its not a solution, and I don't know why your response has been marked as a "correct answer".

From what I have seen so far, the issue occurs when you use the 'delete link' function - perhaps Adobe could have a pop-up warning to only use this as a last resort due to the issue it creates. At least, until the issue is resolved. Perhaps it is just with longer form docs like reports - and seems Express' core audience is simple social posts trather han multi-page interactivity. I just wish I had discovered this before explaining to the client this was an option for having an interactive mulitpage document with infographics.

I tried recreating the file by starting a new file and copying the content page by page instead of duplicating it now. I generated the link after the first page and then updated it after every new page. For the first 5 pages, this worked fine. On page 6, the link couldn't be updated at first but then I deleted the content, tried again and it worked. At page 11, every second page started making trouble and at page 15, with every single page it couldn't update in the first try. The more pages, the more tries it took deleting content and then pages again to eventually have it update again. At page 24, I have tried so many times now that it seems like it just won't update anymore.

So I think the issue seems to be connected to file size/page number, @Amitej S . Hope that helps in fixing this problem quickly.

Hi @timc57343945@Elena_H3846@lloyd_1825 ,

Thanks for your patience. As the product team is working on resolving the issue, can you please try to duplicate and generate the view-only link on the duplicated document as a workaround and let us know if that helps?

Regards,

Tarun

Hi @Elena_H3846, Welcome to our Adobe Express community!

Thanks for posting here. It sounds frustrating, and we'd like to narrow it down further.

Could you please check if this happens with just one specific file or all your files? Try deleting the existing link and creating a fresh one to see if that works. It would also help to duplicate the project and then attempt to generate a share link.

Lastly, please try these steps in an incognito/private browsing window and let us know what you observe.

If you could share a screen recording of the same, it would help us investigate the issue and share it further with the team if necessary.

We are here to help, but need more info on this.

Best!

I'm trying to share a saved file by using the View-Only link feature in Adobe Express. However, the update link button will spin for several minutes after I click it an then eventually a red pop up box will appear saying. "We couldn't publish your link at this time. Please try again." The Copy Link that was generated takes me to a 404 error page. The delete link also spins for several minutes when clicked and then nothing happens.

I found a community post almost identical to this from 2023 and the guidance was to sign out, update your browser if applicable, clear cache/cookies, then try again. Alternatively, there was an option to try from an incognito browser. I've done all of these things and nothing worked. I've also had a teammate try and he had the same trouble. Please help! How do I get a view-only link to work??

Hi @Amy0D44,

Thanks for reaching out and for sharing the detailed information! Could you please share the file with me via private message with the edit access to investigate further?

Private messages should be accessible from the envelope in the top right corner. This should be the direct URL https://adobe.ly/48d3OaT

great, thank you.

I have re-exported it from InDesign, this time without outlining any of the text, to hopefully create a less complicated file. I then manually adjusted all the type that loses its kerning/tracking and line spacing and recreated the animations.

But unfortunately still then the same issue when trying to create the share link.

For now, I've sent the client a standard PDF version of the report to meet the deadline.

Any help/background info appreciated, thank you.
