Adobe Express Video rotation issue.

Each video I have edited today where I had to rotate my video to 90°. It keeps showing an expanded version or extremely distorted version that does not show the accurate thing like when downloaded. So when I download it, it’s fine but in the actual app when I’m editing it, it’s all distorted so I can’t edit clearly. This is the first time it’s ever happened to me. Even when I exited the app and restarted it, each video keeps showing that distortion.

Same with me too. Some background that might be helpful to the community manager researching the issue, I used a third party app (DJI) to record my video and uploaded from my phone to a Box file. I am getting the same issue with the video rotating 90 degrees and warping.

Thanks for letting us know - @morganl13352703! Super useful to have that information. Would you also be able to share:

    • Is it a .MOV or .MP4 file?
    • The Express project itself, with edit access. Please duplicate the project first and share the link to the duplicate, so your original stays untouched. You can DM me this link since we are on a public forum.
    • The original video file you uploaded, attached here.

    Hi @@thomas_sauve!

Thank you for adding your voice to the thread, would you mind answering the below questions for me?

    Could you share two things:

    • The Express project itself, with edit access. Please duplicate the project first and share the link to the duplicate, so your original stays untouched. You can DM me this link since we are on a public forum.
    • The original video file you uploaded, attached here.

Having both will really help pinpoint what's happening with the metadata.

Hey @Regina255088447mdt - thank you for the screen recording!

This is a known issue affecting portrait videos when brightness/contrast adjustments are applied, and we're aware of it and looking into it.

To help our team track this down, could you share two things:

    • The Express project itself, with edit access. Please duplicate the project first and share the link to the duplicate, so your original stays untouched. You can DM me this link since we are on a public forum.
    • The original video file you uploaded, attached here.

Having both will really help pinpoint what's happening with the metadata.

    Hi everyone!

Would you be able to share the video file you’re working on, along with a screen recording of the workflow showing the video rotation in the editor window?

This could be related to the file metadata, and we’d like to investigate it once we have the video files.

No, I can’t share my video file as mine is in an education setting and includes children so my video will not be shared with Adobe. Interesting when I exported the video to test it, it exported the correct way around. But it makes it nearly impossible to edit when it is rotating the video sideways. I have used express so many times for quick social media videos recorded on my phone and then editing here and this has never been an issue until the day of my original comment. I only found this thread when googling to see if there was a “fix” and finding other people on the exact same day having the problem.

    Hi Jamie,

Please check whether the width of the video is greater than the height. I was facing the same issue with a video whose width was 892 and height was 1280. By simply swapping the size, i.e., making width 1280 and height 892 the issue was resolved.

    Regards,

    Vasu
