Downloading past generation

I'm having trouble downloading my past generation. The totol is around 7000 images. I've successfully higlighted them all and clicked Download, but it always returns and error. I do get a .zip file but it only contains between 50 and 200 pictures. Is there a more reliable way to D/L all my past images, as I've had a disk faliure and need to recover them.
