I can't go back to my original image and save it to my library after I have made changes.

I can't go back to my original image and save it to my library after I have made changes. I have to hit the back button to go back to the photos and do it multiple times to go back to various versions. It would be nice to have versions I can review while I am making changes to images. Thank you
