Subject: Resolution Loss When Importing High-Resolution PNG into Firefly

Message:

Hello Adobe Community,

I’m experiencing an issue with Adobe Firefly where high-resolution images lose their sharpness upon import. Specifically, I’m using a PNG image at 600 DPI, and when I bring it into Firefly, the text and small numbers become blurred and lose clarity. This resolution is crucial for my work, as the detail in the text is important.

Could you please advise on how to maintain the original resolution and sharpness when importing images into Firefly? Any guidance or settings adjustments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Mario Marelli

Hello @mario marelli_9706,

Thank you for your message.

Firefly generated images are generally limited to 2000x2000. Images imported into firefly for editing in prompt to edit or generative fill will suffer a reduction in resolution with an image your size. Prompt to edit is a new generation, so it is about 2000x2000. Generative fill is not a new generation, but it also reduces the resolution of your image in half (I could not where this is documented).

Depending on what you are trying to do, you likely would have to use photoshop to do it in order to preserve the resolution of the original image. If you use generative fill in Photoshop, just make sure no generation is in a space greater than 2000x2000 pixels.

My best,
