Safari downloads stopped working

I've been able to download the images I've specified this afternoon, and then it just stopped working. Instead of getting a jpg, I'm getting the file with the .download extension. Renmaing it seems to work. This is on the current version of Safari on a Mac running the most recent version of Ventura.

"

redwood forest, 3pm in the afternoon, waterfall flowing into river, three deer taking a drink at the river's edge, filtered light in strong sun beams coming through the trees. fish jumping out of the river. small quaint stone cottage nestled among the trees. Cottage has thatched roof and smoke coming out of its stone chimney. Its windows are glowing from lights inside. Light beams from the sun light the roof of the cottage."

I switched to a different prompt and it started working again.
