Adobe After Effects/Media Encoder outputing only audio from mp4 files

I just installed and started Adobe after affects, and after trying to create a new project, my mp4 files only give audio for some reason. I thought media encoder might fix any issues with the files themselves so i tried it but media encoder just removes the video the same way as after effects. Ive tried many different settings and different mp4 files but am still having the same issue. I tried previous versions, and different codec and video settings but nothing changes.

    Hey, bennett_1822,
When you import the MP4 into After Effects, do you see the video normally in the Footage/Composition viewer, or is it already audio-only before you render or send it to Media Encoder?

If it's audio-only immediately upon import, that's likely a codec/decoding issue with the source file. If the video looks fine in AE, but the exported file contains only audio, we'll need to look at your render/export settings instead.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
