After Effects

Hey folks, wondering if anyone can tell me the shortcut to align the beginning of a precomp to the playhead in AE, or even just to the exact beginning of the comp?  I know how to align and snap the active, visible section of a precomp to the playhead using “[“ or “]” but can’t figure out how to align the actual beginning of the pre comp to the playhead or even the comp beginning.  Thanks for any info!

As of AE version 26.0.0 renders that should be rendered to an interlaced format end up as incorrect.The duration of the export is correct, though the content is playing at 200% and the rest is filled with a solid black (No transparancy)This workflow has worked for me for 20+ years. Using the latest version of After Effects - both my main Desktop machine (Windows 11) = and laptop (Windows 10) are freezing and crashing. Graphics and Video. No other app is causing this. Most often triggered when TAB through windows to different apps. Please sort this out. Not acceptable.

I’m on the latest After Effects (26.0) and I’m working on a video edit. I’m using some AI-generated videos as a base and then editing them. A lot of AI videos are slow, so I’m using Time Remapping to speed them up. The comp frame rate matches the footage.The problem is that when I Time Remap the video, it introduces random glitches on random frames (e.g., 3–5 frames). Normally, when something like this happened before, I could just remove the glitched frame and it was fine. But now it’s uncontrollable: when I change the bit depth, the glitch disappears in some frames but shows up in completely different ones. I’d understand if it was preview-only, but even when I purge the memory and disk cache, it just appears in different places. That’s why I can’t simply remove one or two frames—because the glitch moves.Frame Blending either shifts the glitches somewhere else or creates other visually weird artifacts. Time Remapping has always worked perfectly for me, so this is really frustrating.

At first, I thought it was due to my PC's configuration, but I recently upgraded it and the problem persists. I've reset the After Effects settings several times and it's still the same. Hi, I’m trying to use Content Aware Fill, for the first time probably and it just won’t create any Fill for me. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, but I’v tried it as well on completly different footage and project and the problem persist. I upload the footage Create a Mask on the layer Set the Mask on Subtract and sets Feather Motion Tracker on Mask is not needed The hole is visible in Comp and in Content Aware Fill Clicks on Generate Fill Layer from Content Aware Fill After approximately 6s a new fill layer appears, however without any fill or content Immediatelly my CPU and RAM start going up until 100% (I have 64GB DDR4 RAM and i5-12600KF CPU) CPU stops going crazy when I delete the new Fill layer and my RAM drops to like 80-90%, until I reopen the project again. There is no visible activity in After Effects and I even left it for a moment running on 100% to see, if something appear in After Effects, however nothing showed up. Hi,I have been going crazy looking for a solution to how to solve the 'blank frame' glitch when creating a looping composition using the loopOut() expression.I tried the current/previous solutions which involved adding a keyframe on the penultimate frame or manually setting the final keyframe value -1 frame. These worked, but I was still getting a visible animation glitch happening.My final solution, for a perfect loop with zero visible glitches or blank frames, was to open the pre-comp layer (the original composition that you're trying to loop) and for every layer that reaches the final frame, drag it beyond the end. These layers may appear to run to the very end of the comp and appear as though they reach the final frame, but manually dragging the end of the layer 'off' to the right of the comp was what was needed for that final 'missing' frame to show in the precomp loop.So, starting with a Time Wrapping comp that is showing a blank frame:1. I’m struggling to use After Effects after the new update, it seems super unstable compared to before. I have constant crashed and overall it’s insanely slow now. It will often crash and I am unable to launch the app back up again, even after killing every task related to AfterFX and Adobe, the only way to launch is to restart my PC…I have reinstalled AE, reinstalled my GPU drivers (using DDU for clean install), cleared cache and everything I can think of…There seems to be a very frequent error with my AE Cache not working correctly, as you can see in the log file… any ideas?

I noticed after the latest V26.0 update this issue kept popping up. Case in point, after I've imported my illustrations into AE, random layers seem to disappear even though they are still there in the illustrator file. As you can glimpse from the thumbnail the head of the character is still there but disappears in the AE comp.The solution is for me to open the illustrator file, click save again and wait for the link to update in AE. Trouble is random layers from other illustrations would again disappear every time I open my AE file again to start my animation. Another issue is that the blend mode from illustrator is not pulling through to AE, for example the neck shadow is multiply 40% but in AE it’ll just be Normal 100%. Then randomly it’ll correct itself or reset every time I restart my AE.The obvious solution is to create shape in AE but I have textures in my illustrations and it’ll be chaotic to redo the illustration just for 4 seconds of animation.Hope there’ll be a patch soon for

Hi everyone, ever since I updated AE to version 26.0.0 I have experienced render times as much as ten times slower than it used to be in version 25.x.x. For now, I have rolled back installation to a 25 version, but I would very much like to keep up with the versions, including all new features.I read somewhere that I'm not the only one bumping into this problem.What can I do to solve it? To be clear: I can create a project in v 2026 and it renders terribly slow; when I save it as 25.x version and then switch to AE v2025 everything works at proper render times.Will there be an update for v 2026 that solves this problem?

In past versions of After Effects, I have been able to click on the missing footage, hit the return key to make the name editable, type command c to copy the name of missing footage and paste that into the search bar. This made locating and relinking footage very simple. That feature seems to have gone away in the past year or so. It would be great to get that back again. Are there any other discussions on this? Or is there something in the preferences that I'm missing?

With Cinema4d, we can render EXR sequences containing both ‘Beauty’ (rgba-image) and AOV-channels. But unfortunately, it is not possible to interpret the image-part with the correct color space ( ACEScg Working Space). 

I’m trying to use the Config Variable font from Adobe Fonts in After Effects, but it doesn’t appear in the font list. It works fine in Photoshop and Illustrator. I'm using a macbook pro.  I’ve tried the following troubleshooting steps with no success:•Restarted AE and Creative Cloud•Checked Creative Cloud font sync•Cleared AE font cache (AdobeFnt.lst)•Installed the font locally (both OTF and TTF from a third-party source)•Tested on an older AE version Still, the font refuses to show up in After Effects. I’ve used the . key (on the numeric keypad) to preview audio when adding markers since 2007. In AE 26.0 (build 67) this function now no longer works. When I hit the audio preview key, the start time of out by approximately 1 second (which makes it unusable). I'm very new to AE. I was wanting to do a camera moving through my text. I parented the null object layer to the camera. Now, when I try to move the position of the null object, nothing moves. The sliders for the directions move, but nothing happens on screen. 3D is selected on my comp, text layers, and my null layer. I'm sure it's an easy fix, but I can't find an answer anywhere. All the tutorials I've watched, I never see an issue. They simply add the camera, add the null object, link them, and when they move the position, no issue. Any help would be super appreciated. I want to have a shape move from right to left but be linear in speed then when it gets to a point speed up and then slow down before going back to linear speed again.I always struggle with understanding this. I thought I could have the first keyframe linear, the next one easy ease (hour glass), then another easy ease, and then finally linear, and that by selecting temporal (speed) interpolation to linear it would allow this. Problem is it changes the easy ease keyframes to linear.Essentially in the graph editor I want a straight line and then an n shaped curve which i can modify the handles for to create the speed up and slow down speed I want, before going back to linear again. I have done this before but I’ve never learnt it properly and AE seems to do different things each time. How do I do this because it comes up a lot and is rarely explained in tutorials on youtube etc.Also how do you move the handles so they have exactly the same percentage adjustment. Is there a way to use a video or another comp as a material on a 3D model/object?Kind of obvious but I’m trying to add a video to a 3D phone screen. I added the video to my scene/comp, and I can see the 3D phone material, but cant find a way to select the video as a material. I think I can fake it and make a 9x16 comp and make it 3D and have it aligned right on top of the screen. I know good ol Element 3D can do it, but I’m really hoping that the new native 3D tools in AE can pull it off.If anyone can help lmk, THANKS! 

Hi all. I’m a professional editor working with a UAE based editing agency and using After Effects for years on commercial and ad projects. Recently an entertainment website [personal info removed by mod.] contacted us for a short eye catchy promo ad video. While editing in latest After Effects, I started facing an issue with Multi Frame Rendering. Render gets stuck on a random frame, cpu still high but frames don’t move, no error shows. If I turn off MFR it renders, but very slow. Project is clean, no missing plugins, cache cleared, GPU drivers updated. This feels more like a render thread or plugin related issue, not basic settings. I searched YouTube and blogs but didn’t get real help. Saw many experienced AE editors here so thought to ask.
