Welcome back to our series on free After Effects resources from across the web. If you're just joining us, we've already covered Camera Crew by Motion Ape, DUIK Ángela, and Motion Tools Classic, all worth a look. This time we're looking at a big one for anyone who does motion graphics, social content, or fast-turnaround client work. If you've ever wished you had a library of ready-made transitions and elements you could just drag into a comp, the AEJuice Starter Pack is exactly that, and it's free. Meet the AEJuice Starter PackThe AEJuice Starter Pack is a free collection of 100+ drag-and-drop motion graphics assets, delivered through AEJuice's Pack Manager panel. Instead of building common elements from scratch every time, you browse a visual library right inside After Effects, drag what you need onto your timeline, and keep moving.A nice bonus: the Starter Pack works in Premiere Pro too, so it's not just an After Effects tool. What you can do with itThe Starter Pack packs a lot into
Welcome back to our series on free After Effects resources from across the web. If you missed the earlier posts, we covered Camera Crew by Motion Ape and DUIK Ángela, both well worth a look. This time we're keeping it simple, with a small toolkit that a lot of you have probably already used without thinking about it. Motion Tools Classic is one of those tools that just quietly speeds up the boring parts of every animation. Meet Motion Tools ClassicMotion Tools Classic, from the team at Motion Design School, is the original free version of Motion Tools, the everyday animation toolkit that's been trusted by motion designers since 2017. In a world of heavy, do-everything plugins, this one goes the other way on purpose. It's a small, focused set of the tools you actually reach for every day, with nothing extra to get in the way.And it's completely free. What you can do with itMotion Tools Classic keeps things tight and practical:Easing – apply and adjust easing with clean, simple controls
When I export any video in After Effects, regardless of the composition settings, frame rate, resolution, or quality, the render consistently freezes one frame before the 1-second mark. The only workaround I've found is exporting as an image sequence, but there is an additional issue with audio synchronization, and it is corrupted. Standard video exports freeze every time, while renders sent through Adobe Media Encoder (AME) complete successfully. I've already tested different compositions, export settings, frame rates, and quality levels, but the issue remains the same. Any assistance in diagnosing why After Effects stops rendering at the same point on every export would be greatly appreciated. PS: I’m using the latest version of After Effects on my Apple M4 Max with 48 GB of RAM.
# After Effects 26.3.0 aborts at startup on macOS 26.6.2 (Apple Silicon) — 26.2.1 works, 53/53 launches failed**Workaround, for anyone stuck: roll back to 26.2.1.**Creative Cloud → After Effects → **⋯** → **Other versions** → 26.2.1. Running fine here after 53 consecutive failed launches on 26.3.0. A full uninstall/reinstall of the Creative Cloud suite is *not* needed.**This is not the "After Effects freezes before the splash screen" issue.** Those reports describe a hung process — beachball, "not responding" in Force Quit. Here the process is never hung: it stays responsive, puts up an error dialog, and **exits cleanly with status 0** after a few seconds. After import an Adobe Illustrator file (30.7), After effects(25.0.0) displays the vector art with a white backgroundAfter effects shows me the vector art like a flattened image! This has never happened to me before, and I need a solution.
What should be the value to get an exact cube?
I can't find a way to get SVG images into my composition. EPS is just drag and drop but SVG... I can't through any route.I must be missing something.
It would be fantastic if Adobe could open up the color space setting to be modifiable via the C++ SDK. Obviously these are quite new features, but they are not currently exposed to the SDK. I’m working on a plugin to take out the hard part of handling colorspace for artists so they can worry about the work and not the science.NamelyProject - color ENGINEProject - OCIO configProject - working spaceProject - display spaceFootage items in project panel - colourspaceThank you 🙏🏼
The user selects or imports a screenshot containing text. The panel analyzes the letterforms in the image. It searches for visually similar fonts. It displays the closest matches and allows the user to apply or activate the selected font in After Effects. Its Match font, but in after effects.
After Effects 2023 crashes when rendering with adjustment-layer effects enabled Hi Adobe community,I'm having a serious rendering problem in After Effects 2023 and I can't figure out what's causing it.My project is a 1080×1080, 60 FPS edit. When I render normally, After Effects eventually gets stuck/crashes around a specific frame. I also experienced RAM-preview glitches where some footage would flicker/warp or display incorrectly.I tested the project by disabling the effects on my adjustment layers, and the exact same frame renders successfully when the effects are disabled. So I've confirmed that one or more effects on my adjustment layers are causing the rendering problem. However, these effects are an important part of the edit, so simply turning them off isn't a solution. My PC has: After Effects 2023 Windows 10/11 8 GB RAM NVIDIA GPU 60 FPS composition 1080×1080 resolution I've already tried: Restarting After Effects Clearing/purging the cache Rendering the problemati
When adding an Object Matte to 25fps interlaced, AE requires to switch the Comp to 50 fps. Although imho this processing should happen under the hood, I can understand why that is needed. But the thing is, when doing so, the timing is changed: the Comp length is doubled in time. I think time should remain the same.Is this new behavior? I remember that changing frame rate in Comp settings did not affect Duration in seconds. Please repair, or give the option in the Comp settings to maintain time or frames. (Materialy is a typo in the heading - can’t edit it)
The current construct of Open Recent is dated and lacks appreciation of how users use the app - we work on multiple projects at once we create multiple project versions - a strong aversion to losing work is high on everyone’s agenda When coupled, these two realities mean that the Open Recent feature’s options to display only the last 10 projects is hugely lacking. I’d like the feature to be more contextual - each project and its variants will have its own submenu with up to 10. We can continue with the current 10 recent projects but these are really, really 10 different projects and not variants. On project names with more variance than baseName + numbered suffix, I believe users will be forgiving if the app treats them as a separate project and this is acceptable for projects involving language variations where the baseName may differ. But for general use-cases, once the baseName is identical and only the numbered suffix varies, they should be treated as the same project, with varia
Hi,Just upgraded to 25.2.2 and I am having a strange issue with adding layers its like it randomly clips or switches color space from one frame to the next. Only started happening after upgrading AE and NVIDIA.The screenshots are from the same project just different frames, as you will see it also affects the scopes. Only effect used is 'Fast Box Blur'Switching to 'Software Only' fixes the issue
After Effects crashes constantly, black screen and windows become unresponsive. This happens about last week. Everytime I scrub any file (jpg/png/mp4/vector) After effects lags down, black screen and unresponsive.Other software I use does not experience this lag. I have updated the Graphic driver, no effects. I’ve changed the settings in AE, so far no effects. My specs:Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 155H (1.40 GHz) 32.0 GB (31.4 GB usable) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU (6 GB) Intel(R) Arc(TM) Graphics (128 MB) Storage: 668 GB of 954 GB usedPlease suggest me what to do about this constant problem. I can’t use AE at all.
It’s 2025. I open After Effects and… it feels like I’m still working in 2013.While Blender, Unreal Engine, Houdini, and even newer tools like Cavalry are evolving with bold updates, After Effects has barely moved. Every time a new version drops, it’s disappointing to see tiny improvements disguised as “major features.” It’s as if Adobe is keeping the program on life support without actually developing it.Let’s call it out: Graph Editor – still outdated, clunky, and untouched for over a decade. No real-time preview, no modular behavior, no intelligent UI. No modern easing tools – no built-in bounce, elastic, inertia, or overshoot. You still need to rely on Expression tricks or 3rd-party scripts for basic animation finesse. No native effectors or procedural animation tools – while tools like Cavalry, Cinema 4D, and Notch offer real-time procedural workflows and effectors, After Effects is stuck in manual keyframes and precomp hell. Still no native IK (inverse kinemati
For some time now we have had roundness control on shapes within Illustrator and Photoshop, and that hasn't necessarily disseminated properly down to AFX. When drawing a square mask with round corners, you get one shot when you create the mask, and then that control is gone. If you created a square mask, there's no way to then create rounded corners. Why not instead of having two square mask options, having a rounding control like Illustrator to be able to round all corners, and be able to lock those controls for each corner together, or be able to adjust them independently? If this could also be added to other shapes of masks too - even better! We have roundness for parametric rectangles in shape layers, so why not masks? Additionally, this is only a simplified roundness that affects all corners. Again, we should be able to disconnect this and have per-corner roundness control on shape layers too.
Timeline folders. We have them in Animate, Photoshop, Illustrator... precomps can utterly ruin your work and is NOT an alternatives to having a simple folder hierarchy - especially when dealing with shape layers or anything that requires continual rasterization.
The title says it all. Auto-save should function in the background and NOT pop up with an annoying progress bar every time it runs. Gets REALLY bad on large project files when auto-saves take up to a min every single time.Total workflow killer. Should be just like taking snapshots of your project in the background while continue working. The dialog even pops up and steals focus from another app you're in.
I use After Effects for compositing my 3D renders, and I always export 16 or 32 bit EXRs, starting to use ACES. Unfortunately, many, many effects are still only 8 bit, some support 16, and some can do 32. If you don't want to lose me and many other compositors (at least those that are left), please update more effects to 32bit!
This might be a long shot and I dont know if its technically possible to implement, but I think this would be a major improvement to after effects as a whole. I think the easiest way to explain it is looking at the dynamic link feature between premiere and AE, but from AE projects to AE projects.I would have plenty of usecases for this and I it would elevate professional workflows into new heights.Just like having your own library of functions in coding, that you can link in multiple scripts, updating or adding new logic to the source function which automatically integrates in the scripts where its linked to. In this case the function would be an After effects project that you can reuse and implement in other projects and automatically updates in all linked projects if theres changes to the master project.Reallife example: I have a beverage flatlabel that I wrap around a beverage can with UV Map. I use this Label in multiple projects, since theres plenty of different campaigns and
Reporting this as a bug since I can’t see that’s it’s a “feature” or has any use whatsoever. Enabling time remapping on a layer automatically places a keyframe at the in and out points of a layer. Great. Except that the keyframe at the END of the layer apparently does NOT hold the last frame when that layer is extended in time -- simply dragging out the out point of the layer means you will get empty black frames. In order to FREEZE the final frame of a layer, such as for a hold, it’s necessary to step one frame back, set ANOTHER keyframe, then delete the auto created one. Then dragging the layer out will hold the final frame as expected. I’ve never, ever had a scenario in 25 years of work in animation where I’ve wanted a time remapped layer to behave the way that it does by default, and it becomes tedious having to deal with this over and over, and sometimes even gets overlooked then resulting in headscratching as to why, e.g., a precomped layer that’s been time remapped upsteam then
The name of the 3D object is Briefcase with Money.obj. I want to create an effect where the camera moves upwards and the effects move downwards. However, when I add the camera, the 3D object disappears. What can be done to resolve this? Thank you very much for your attention.
With the release of the Mac Studio with M5 Ultra, and Apple’s eye-watering RAM pricing, I’m trying to work out the best upgrade route for overall performance.I currently have a Mac Studio with the top-spec M2 Ultra and 192GB of unified memory. The comparable upgrade would be the top-spec M5 Ultra, but with only 96GB of memory. The jump to 256GB adds roughly £4,000, which simply isn’t viable.Would cutting my memory from 192GB to 96GB undermine the performance gains of the M5 Ultra? Would having only 96GB alongside the maxed-out CPU and GPU create a bottleneck, or does that only become an issue if my workloads actually exceed the available memory?Alternatively, would I be better off choosing the top-spec M5 Max with 128GB of unified memory? It would have less CPU and GPU power than the M5 Ultra, but gives me more memory at a much more reasonable price. My main work is motion graphics, primarily After Effects, alongside Cinema 4D and other Adobe applications. Which configuration is likely
Most DLCs and other compositing software support OCIO 2.5+ configs now and it would be nice for After Effects to support them as well in the Custom OCIO Configuration. A popular example: Using Blender 5+ OCIO configs in After Effects.
