its a small request, in the next update, can the field be auto selected when the edit guide window is opened, so i can begin typing a new number? love the added functionality to guides, but i hate having to hit tab or clicking in that box to edit the value. can’t tell ya how many times in the last few weeks i just start typing only to realize i just changed the position value to something like 5451203

I need to apply grain frequently in my work to clean plates I’ve created, and it needs to match the 6k/4k HDR plates I’ve been provided. I prefer Add Grain to Match Grain, as it’s quicker and more accurate for me to manually set it. Because of the size of the plates, and the lack of GPU acceleration in this plug-in, it’s the main bottleneck in my rendering speed, plus 32-bit would help with color fidelity. Obviously, multiframe rendering would be great, too, but I would at least love GPU acceleration to start!

It’s pretty much it.Make grain work in 32bit mode - so it doesn’t clip highlights.The entire professional movie industry has switched to ACES - and you know that because you did put ACES into AE.But the one effect we use in every single shot - grain - is still 16bit, WTF?This has been reported years ago, and i mean like 7-8 years ago now.Do not introduce any new features, stop the development - just give us 32bit grain - then you can go back to whatever else you’ve been playing with.Also, you might look into ACES2.0? Netflix is beginning to demand studios working in ACES2.0 and AE is still stuck on 1.3 :/

For some time now we have had roundness control on shapes within Illustrator and Photoshop, and that hasn't necessarily disseminated properly down to AFX. When drawing a square mask with round corners, you get one shot when you create the mask, and then that control is gone. If you created a square mask, there's no way to then create rounded corners. Why not instead of having two square mask options, having a rounding control like Illustrator to be able to round all corners, and be able to lock those controls for each corner together, or be able to adjust them independently?If this could also be added to other shapes of masks too - even better!We have roundness for parametric rectangles in shape layers, so why not masks?  Additionally, this is only a simplified roundness that affects all corners. Again, we should be able to disconnect this and have per-corner roundness control on shape layers too.

Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think I’d see such INCOMPETENCE from a company that makes industry standard editing software… BUT NO MEANS OF TECHNICAL SUPPORT!!! 😡😡😡 Even wiring this I’m getting INFURIATED! Me personally, I’ve CALLED and MESSAGED you clowns on Multiple occasions in the hopes to receiving assistance with an issue that would have taken 15-20min Tops! But NO!!! Each time, HOURS on the phone and messaging… YOU WASTE MY TIME AND NOT HELP ME!!! So I would highly suggest to actually start TAKING YOUR JOBS SERIOUSLY!!!!

The new ‘effects pannel visual previews’ in Premiere Pro Beta are super helpful. It’d be great to see the same feature come to After Effects as well. There’s so many great fx in AE that it’s sometimes hard to remember what each one of them actually does. 

I'd love to see more built-in composition guide presets in After Effects.While After Effects already supports grids, guides, and percentage-based positioning, more advanced composition guides still require manually creating shape layers or relying on third-party tools.It would be great to have additional presets such as: Golden Ratio Grid Golden Spiral (Fibonacci Spiral) Golden Triangle Dynamic Symmetry Diagonal Composition Guides Ideally, these would be available as non-rendering overlays directly in the Composition panel, similar to the existing grid and safe margin options.Suggested functionality: Quickly switch between different composition guide presets. Display multiple guide types simultaneously. Automatically adapt guides to the composition's dimensions and aspect ratio. Customize line colors, opacity, and thickness. Optionally enable snapping to guide lines and intersections. Display guides without creating additional layers or affecting the rendered output.

sourceRectAtTime() is extremely useful, but it only returns values in layer space. Please add a method that returns the bounding rectangle directly in comp space, including all layer transforms (position, scale, rotation, parenting, and collapse transformations where applicable).This would eliminate complex conversion workarounds and make tasks like responsive layouts, collision detection, alignments, and motion graphics tools much more reliable and performant.

Would be great to have a native, built-in colour swatch panel like all other adobe apps.

Timeline folders. We have them in Animate, Photoshop, Illustrator... precomps can utterly ruin your work and is NOT an alternatives to having a simple folder hierarchy - especially when dealing with shape layers or anything that requires continual rasterization.

Is almost ridiculous that premiere has the option to add a backgrounhd color to a text and After Effects, which should be more advanced, hasn't. Come on.... We have to invent all types of weird expressions to do that, and this way you can't even add corner radious to the background like in Premiere. Premiere has so many advances features for text that I wish could be brought into After Effects as well.

In After Effects, the maximum composition duration is currently limited to 23:59:00:00.However, in actual production environments, there are cases where filming begins late in the 23:00 hour and continues past midnight into the following day.For this reason, we would like After Effects to support timelines longer than 24 hours more naturally by either removing the current 23:59:00:00 maximum duration limit or extending it beyond 24 hours.Although this is a rare case, we have also encountered situations where a frame after 23:59:00:00, such as 23:59:05:15, needed to be used as the starting frame. However, After Effects was unable to support this.

I'm a big fan of the layer based compositing and layer based editing After Effects currently has. That being said I'm well aware of the demand for node based workflows from other professionals in my field who use software like Davinci Resolve/Fusion/Nuke. From what I gather I have heard the excuse that AE is too old and integating such feature's would be too difficult. I'm no expert on software development but my suggestion would be to devide After Effects in two. Upon opening After Effects you are greeted with a choice of what kind of project you would like to make. A "Layer Based" or "Node Based" project. Selecting Layer Based will take you to the traditional layout. Selecting Node Based will launch you into a new UI that visually more akin to something like Nuke. Over time Adobe can work on ways to integrate the two halves together but by doing this they can cater to professionals or new enthusiasts who want to try out other methods of compositing.    

Holding down shift and clicking "New Folder" in the project panel will automatically move any selected layers into the new folder. The same feature that’s in Photoshop.

It would be super rad if AE has the ability to have Project Tabs.A lot of other software, like Cinema 4D for example, allows multiple projects to be open at the same time, making switching between projects more seemless and allows for a quicker workflow.Is this something After Effects is able to handle on the backend? Would greatly depreceate the time it takes to close and open between projects, especially when working between multiple projects during the day. I think a majority of users will appriciate this new feature! Thanks!

Could the devs please look at updating the Gradient Ramp effect so that it allows for multiple colours with keyable, adjustable positions, more like how the Gradient Overlay Layer Style works? Having two colours can be really limiting sometimes.

When working with Content-Aware Fill, I find myself deactivating and reactivating Masks all the time. Please make an checkbox to skip applied masks when choosing ‘Create Reference Fram’.

There is a growing demand to edit and export video footage while preserving the metadata contained in the source files.Although it is possible to export using ProEXR, differences in metadata can occur between the original footage and the rendered output.In particular, for OpenEXR files, we would like After Effects to preserve and carry over, as much as possible, the metadata added during the shooting and production process.

Would there be any chance that the team could implement scrubby zoom for the composition and timeline panels in AE?It would make using them far easier when using a Wacom tablet.

Hi everyone,I’d like to request a small but highly impactful quality-of-life update for the After Effects timeline: the ability to drag the Current Time Indicator (playhead) by grabbing the vertical line itself, rather than forcing users to click the blue marker at the very top of the time ruler.The Problem in After Effects: Currently, in After Effects, if you want to scrub through your composition, you have to move your mouse all the way up to the top of the timeline panel to grab the blue playhead marker. If you hover over the vertical blue line that cuts through your layers, you just get a standard white mouse pointer and cannot drag the time slider from there. The new 3D features are great! But I really miss a Rounded Bevel like the one in Adobe Stage or the fillet in Cinema 4D. I hope it will be implemented soon.

I’d like there to please be a command available for keyboard shortcuts to activate the timestamp field in the top-left of the Timeline panel. A lot of the time when I’m clicking in this field, it’s because I want to jump to the current time plus/minus X frames or seconds. The existing ‘Go to Time’ dialog doesn’t support this, so there’s currently no way to do these time calculations via keyboard shortcuts.Additional side-request (although the above would be preferable): Enable calculations in the ‘Go to Time’ dialog.(I did consider requesting that the command be changed to activate the timestamp instead of opening the dialog, but I’m aware that would remove functionality for people who might be working without the Timeline panel open.)
