How do I write a feature request?

We want to hear your ideas about how we can improve After Effects. Your opinion is very important to us and the ideas provided here regularly appear in future versions. When posting an idea, here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

How will the idea help your workflow?

You're the expert on your workflow, so tell us how your idea would improve your workflow. What problem are you having today that the idea could solve? That helps us understand your idea better. It also makes it easier for us to follow up with you to get more info on your idea.

One idea per thread

If you've got two (or more!) ideas, make each of them a separate thread. Doing this will allow others to vote on a single, specific idea and not confuse up-votes amongst a list of feature requests.

Enlist support!

If you feel strongly about a feature, and you know other people do too, get them to vote on it.

For After Effects please create a shortcut affiliated with your “attention required” banners beneath a layer such as “Frame rate mismatch, or footage with fields found, for best results set your composition to 59.94 to match the layer source” COOL, let me click on that message to get straight to the setting to change it or better yet, when I click on it prompt me to comply with the change or deny it and call it a day. I’m obviously not versed in the software enough to know “oh yeah, click here then here then here and change that” Just give me the option to click the “warning” and do the thing.

Thanks!

Feature Request: Automatic State Toggles (Intro/Outro/Static) for Responsive Design Compositions

How will the idea help your workflow?

Currently, when creating Premiere Pro Motion Graphics Templates (MOGRTs) in After Effects using Responsive Design-Time (Intro and Outro protective areas), editors in Premiere often need a clean way to turn the intro or outro animations completely on or off, or isolate a "static" state.

To achieve this right now, motion designers have to manually program complex expressions, create custom checkbox controls in the Essential Graphics Panel, and meticulously link them to keyframe/layer opacities or time-remapping. It is incredibly tedious, prone to human error, and adds massive overhead to a repetitive task.

The Proposed Solution: I propose that when a user creates Responsive Design-Time intro and outro regions on an After Effects composition, After Effects should provide an automated option to generate a checkbox controller in the Essential Graphics Panel. This controller would automatically toggle between three distinct states ‘Intro, Outro, and Static’ utilizing automatically placed composition markers to drive the logic. You could even make this a standard feature in the Essential Graphics panel since it would be used frequently.

By automating this expression-heavy setup, motion designers can instantly generate smarter, more flexible MOGRTs without writing a single line of code.

How Other Tools Do It

For context, Apple Motion handles this brilliantly. It allows the creator to use simple markers anywhere on the timeline with native edit options built right in to cleanly define and toggle between the intro, outro, and static behaviors. Bringing a similar, automated logic to After Effects would keep the Adobe ecosystem competitive and highly efficient for fast-paced broadcast and social media workflows.

I regularly put background music tracks into After effects compositions. It would be nice to have a simple version of the audio remix/extend features that are in premier pro so i can quickly change the length of the track to suit the comp within After Effects without having to create a seperate premier project each time solely to change the track duration.

HI, I’ve been using AE since version 2, and the one consist things has been THE TRACKERS SUCKS, I’m trying to track a solid layer that I animated, it’s a bar that comes to a point, I’m tracking the point, and it can’t do it with out me doing a frame at a time and adjusting it on almost every frame.

SO my request is go out a buy a good tracking system! Use an AI or something, Please.

look at Keen, or Nuke, these trackers are great, SynthEyes would be a great addition too,

Genuinely, please slow down your release cycle. 2023 was basically the last useable release before I had to spend 50% of my work day putting out fires and googling how to fix random bugs. We are paying customers, not beta testers. Please get your ducks in a row before releasing the software. Ask any user and they would rather stability and fixed bugs, not an i same release cadence that Adobe seemingly cannot keep up with

Do you ever actually inude the features people ask for? Seems more like you release the same thing every year but slightly slower

Just off the top of my head, I can think of a handful of features that have made it into the beta and/or release versions over the past few months as a result of requests here, so yes – the team does pay attention here.

Yet you couldn't name one.
