I just DL a template from mixkit.co called Letterbox Slideshow. It comes with 10 scenes. I only need text on the first 3 but for some reason i cannot figure out how to remove the BOX that the text sits in. I have removed the text but the box is still there. There is no layer for the box. The box also has 2 rectangle narrow box designs that appear with it. It looks like it is part of each layer’s Media asset. I’m very new to AE and do not know how to dig deeper. It’s a free DL if anyone has some serious free time. Create Composition can create a new composition in a project. What is meant by other two composition?  

Left aliment moves the text to right side of comp and right aliment moves the text to left side of the com. How to understand this? Video is attached as well.  

 I'm using AE 25.5 on my new PC, and exporting mogrt won't do anything but give these temporary comps which is basically 640*360 version of the original mogrt. I've tried downgrading all the way to AE 24 and same thing happens, no matter how simple the mogrt would be(like only 1 line of text) I did find out that the mogrts are stuck in Temp>aegraphic>(randomfilename)>aemogrtFiles, but in .aeg and not actual mogrt. It seems like AE manages to make .aeg files, but fail merge it with the temporary comp for the preview and get stuck...How could I fix this?

I did simple Position keyframing to make a star move from the lower left to the upper right. The screenshot with the properties can be seen.  If I add the keyframes to the Position property under Transform: Polystar 1 layer there is no motion path. If I add the keyframes to Position under  the Transform layer then the motion path displays. What is the difference between using the Position property and adding keyframes these two different ways? After doing the Position keyframes to the Transform layer, I am having an issue with the Center Point for the Motion Path not being in the center of my shape so the motion path does not display for it properly as can be seen in the first screenshot. If I use the Pan Behind tool I move the center point to the center of the shape and then the motion path displays properly. Why is it not doing this by default? The shape is still not moving exactly along the motion path as can be seen in the second screenshot, how do I get it to do this? The only thi

I have a text layer above a shape layer. I add rotation keyframes to the shape layer and it works, now I want the text layer to rotate along with the shape. I drag the pick whip from the shape layer to the text layer though the text layer is still not animating/rotating. What do I need to do to make this work?

OK, here goes.Select an image, say a narrow street showing to the end.In Photoshop,select Filter > Vanishing Point.Go through the process of making the Planes required. Export for After Effects .vpe > Open After Effects, import the .vpe you just created.Double click the Composition folder > AAAARGHThis is where it goes pear shaped and is my question, See the attached screenshot.How on earth do I put the Planes into the viewport, is there an easy way to do this, I have tried dragging, fiddling with Parent / Transform settings. It is a nightmare to place the planes in the viewport, and I’ve never managed to make it fit nicely. Can anyone suggest a method?Thanks in advance. 

Hello! I have a problem with my after effects. When I render mp4 it’s fine video, I mean no problem. When I try preview footage mp4 format image is distortion and black and white. If I put a photo on my composition preview it’s good.My spec laptop HP Pavillion 15DK is:Nvidia card geforce gtx 1650 Intel UHD Graphics 630 16GB RamTwo SSD one with 1tb and second ssd is with 500gbAfter effects is the latest version 2026.2.1I try to clear memory cache, I make settings and nothing. I roll back version and nothing. The problem persistent 

Hello! I am having trouble turning a path I created and added to a shape layer into a line. I created the path in a shape layer and then pasted that path into the position of a dot i was hoping to follow the path. That worked and i made some edits to the path in the dot path. I am now trying to use the path from the dot to be used in its own layer as a a line following the dot. When I have copied the position keyframes from the dot and pasted into a new shape layer, the line does not show when I add a stroke or generate one.  I haven’t seen any other questions in these forums with a similar problem. More than happy to send screenshots if it helps!

After the update to ver 26.0.0 any log clip that is imported into After Effects is not showing as log. There is a LUT applied to the clip, but I can’t turn the LUT off, or see what conversion LUT is even being applied or adjust it at all. Very confusing. 

I’d like to add a wave warp distortion effect to a bunch of stripes. The blue marking on the attached image is what I am trying to create. However, when I add the wave warp effect, it warps the individual stripes, not the image as a whole (See image). I have tried everything. I pre-comped the stripes (and didn’t have continuously rasterize on - see image); I recreated it in Illustrator and added it as an illustrator import; I even turned it into a JPEG and added it as a JPEG and it still treated the stripes individually (See image)! The JPEG scenario really confused me, as the stripes are “baked” in to the image. I am currently using AE 2026, so I tried AE 2024, and it still did the same thing. Am I just misunderstanding how wave warp works? I would think that with a JPEG, AE wouldn’t even be able to recognize it as individual stripes.  

Can anyone help me how to fixed this. While importing Illustrator file in After Effects all my graphic layers has a white shape or block aroung the graphic. The following image shows the original file and the second image shows the screenshot after importing into After Effects.Img 1Img 2The Img1 is the final image and the Img 2 is the screenshot after importing in After Effect.

I recently upgraded to 24 and there are some bugs, but most go away by closing and reopening.  One just popped up that despite closing and opening and restarting, it won't go away.   The keyboard shortcut for split layer (Shift+cmd+D) doesn't work.  I went into keyboard shortcuts and it said that was the shortcut.  When I got rid of it and tried to reassign it to that, it turns out that it AE won't even accept that as a keyboard shortcut.  Can anyone think of a solve for this, short of uninstalling and reinstalling AE?   Title edited by Mod.

I’m having an issue with Motion Tools Pro v1.4.9. When I try to log in through the panel, I get the error: “Invalid server response: Missing token”. I’m using After Effects 2026 on a fresh Windows installation, so there should be no conflict with old cache or previous versions. Because of this error, I’m unable to access the plugin.

Current Spec: 64GB DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, set my disk cache at 115GB on 3400MB/s read speed, about 5000MB/s write speed, set ram reserved for other app to 6GB, paid application, enable multiframe renderingSomething likes this took me like 1 min to play back, its literally just basic 3d rotation and positioning keyframe, no crazy plugin or effectTried switching the codec for the video on another comp but it doesnt help muchI can add some other settings/info if needed

Imported my illustrator file in AE and all the vectors have this white block behind them. I did not convert them into shapes in AE neither did I use clipping masks in AI. Previous projects did not have this issue After Effects Version 25.5.0 (Build 4)My Hardware:RTX 4060, 32gig RAM

Excuse moi… What the hell is that?! It’s the first time in 15 years in After Effects I’ve had this: Absolutely nothing special here. A fresh project with one video precomped, tracked, camera and text added. That is all. I cannot use Advanced 3D today because it messes up my font. Tried resetting AE preferences with Ctrl+Shift+Alt on load.  Tried resetting font preferences, choose other fonts. Tried changing Advanced 3D preferences.AE 26.0.0, 14700K, 4080, 64 Gb of ram

Hello, I’ve been working on developing a plugin using the AE SDK (essentially an AE-style plugin for PR). However, I’ve been unable to successfully compile Chinese effects names.Here is the command I’m using:cl /D "PRWIN_ENV" /I "$(AE_SDK_BASE_PATH)\Examples\Headers" /I "$(AE_SDK_BASE_PATH)\Examples\Resources" /EP "..\%(Filename).r" > "$(IntDir)%(Filename).rr""$(AE_SDK_BASE_PATH)\Examples\Resources\PiPLTool" "$(IntDir)%(Filename).rr" "..\%(Filename).rcp""-c"Even after adding the -c option, it still fails. I suspect this tool might not support it, because I know that Cnvtpipl.exe does support Chinese attribute names.

Opening someone else’s project I get “Could not create Essential Graphic parameter because it refers to a non-existent layer.”→ How does one find out why Essential Graphics failed, what the layer(s) might have been?Similar to when expressions break .. you can click the magnifying glass in the orange alert bar to go directly to the broken expression, or type “missing” in the search field to solo footage files that the After Effects project cannot locate.Thanks,Marc Chep

Why AE is still in 2026 absolutely garbage and unoptimized? Why at more than 70$ moth is still full of bugs? Why rendering is still underusing the machine? Why adobe? Why dont you destroy the program and rebuilt from zero? Years, more than 12 years working daily with it and every day I have to FIGHT with the software, every day. Every day I discover a new tricky way to solve a NEW problem. 

hello,i have after effects 2024,and when i preview my video or photo,the preview gets very slow,and a red warning appears in my preview pannel saying that my preview is not in real time.i think this has a connection with the green line,because when i preview,a lot of empty spaces appear on it.this issue happens with all of my projects.already tried to change the resolution,allocate more RAM to ae,cleaning cache,and nothing works.i ask for solutions please.

I need to reset an anchor point to the center of a shape. I can use the Pan Behind tool to drag the anchor point back, though I do not know how to get it right back in the center. Searching Google told me to hold down Command while dragging and it should snap to the center, though that is not working for me. What do I do to get the anchor point right back in the center?Thanks

I started encountering a bug yesterday where my after will not allow me to click on any effects or presets in the effects and presets window. I am still able to add effects by right clicking my footage and choosing effect.You can see in the screenshot that the create new animation preset button at the button is not appearing.The only way I am able to fix this is to reset after effects multiple times. I dont even know where to being troubleshooting or what information to provide.

 AE crashes during render after a few minutes. My comp is Intel TM i9-14900 3.2GHz, 96 GB RAM, £TB of storage available, 64-bit op system and processor
