Adobe illustrator to After effects import - layer auto duplication

The layers are getting duplicated and auto grouped while importing in after effects. and some times colour is not updating as well. I found a time being solution for this. but previous version does not have this bug.

I found solution for this, in new version while editing in illustrator, while giving release layer to sequence. if there any layer that is inside the parent layer and if it has any artwork or path. it automatically duplicates inside after effects and colours are sometimes not updating. I fixed it by just removing the extra layer inside the parent layer and map the artwork path directly below the parent layer. now its working smoothly.

But this should not happen in adobe. Basic things are getting harder and harder things are getting better. please fix this in update. thanks 😀

Hi Jefrin, thanks for the report and for documenting the workaround — that's genuinely useful for others hitting the same issue.

To help escalate this properly, could you share:

    1. Your exact After Effects and Illustrator versions (Help > About in each).

    2. Your OS and system specs.

    3. Roughly when did this start? Was it after a recent AE or Illustrator update?

    4. If possible, a small sample .ai file that reproduces the duplication would let engineering test it directly.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Thanks,

    Nishu
