AE creates illegal folders in windows when naming a comp with a . (dot) at the end of the comp name and exporting to an image sequence.

THESE FOLDERS CAN NOT BE DELETED!!!!!!
BE AWARE BEFORE INITIATING THESE STEPS
the folders are corrupt and can not be deleted!!!

1. create comp with name comp. ( dot at the end of name )
2. export to a drive as png sequence in a folder

3. look for the path in the export que ( is some cases it will not create a path )
when it does pres render
4. there will be an error but the filder with the dot at the end is created.
5. this folder can NOT be deleted and I have not found another opion but formatting the drive
( which in my case is no option )

Have you actually looked at the file/ folder names in terminal or for that matter in an app without Unicode support/ Unicode turned off? Could just be a "wrong" period symbol and there may be some way to fix it. Also check for some alternative file managment tools. Some of them bypass the Windows internal routines and can repair such stuff using low-level manipulation directly on the file system. In fact, now that I think about it, even just booting into Linux from a USB stick, CD/ DVD or a virtual volume might allow access to those botched folders.
