Ae keeps missing files everytime - even after re linking! 25.3.2 V

Hi, 

Scince updating to the latest version  25.3.2 and something weird happened.

 

I re named a file and it went missing of course. So I re linked it and saved the Ae files.

But every single time I open the Ae file, I keep getting the same missing files msg and I have to re link it EVERY SIGNLE TIME. I tried saving a new file version but it's the same.

 

I just installed a fresh windows 11 today and got the same thing!!

 

Help please

I made the file path shorter and it fixed it. Thank you!

    25.3.2 only contains a fix for handling PDF files that were crashing AE. What version did you upgrade from? 

     

    Are the files on a really long file path? There was a report recently that relinking is not working where the filepaths are over 255 characters.

      Good advice. Worked for me too.

      I was having the same issue but it occurred for me after collecting files and moving the After Effects project (rather than renaming a file like in the original post). Moving the project folder up several directories on my drive fixed the problem. Too bad After Effects is so restricted with filename and directory lengths and too bad it doesn’t give you a hint in the error dialog to try this fix.
