AE opens on Mac, but never becomes active app

Yesterday, AE was working fine. I am on insane deadlines right now and was working all day.
Today, I turned on my machine. Premiere works fine. Photoshop works fine. AE didn't open properly... Everything initialized, the program opened visually, and I could see my custom workspace... but none of the plug ins or extensions finished loading (motion 3, etc), and AE never became the active app on my machine. I could click on it in the dock, command tab to it, etc... I could grab the AE windows and drag them around, but I couldn't click anything within the app, but the Menu bar belonging to OSX at the top of the screen would never say 'After Effects', only the last app I had open.

Anyone had anything similar happen?
