AE2023 Locking Layered AI File?

Something I've just noticed about AE2023. Used to be, if you were editing an AI file whose layers were open in AE, AE wouldn't lock it and would just update whatever layers it was using. (The exception was if Premiere was also open and the AE comp was in Premiere's timeline.)

I just noticed that even without Premiere open, an AI file I'm working on says it can't save the illustration while its layers are open in AE2023, but the second I close AE, it saves just fine.

AE2021 and AE2022 didn't do this, and I don't think I've seen this from AE2023 until recently. Is this something anybody else has seen?

What's the exact version of After Effects and Illustrator you're using? Is it happening with all the Illustrator files? Also, are you on macOS or Windows?
