After effects 2024 is extremely slow

hi, recently my after effects (2024&2025) has been really slow (genuinely takes 10 minutes to load a single effect+freezes) even though i have good specs. i have no idea how to fix this. i cleared all my caches and nothing happens. it has never been this slow before.

Sorry to hear you're having performance issues; what you're describing definitely isn't normal or ideal.

  1. Are you by any chance working with assets or a project file on a network device?
  2. Is this happening with the same project in both versions, or does it happen with all new projects?
  3. If you open your Task Manager, can you see where any bottlenecks are occurring? CPU, GPU, RAM, Network?
