After Effects 23.6 crashes on startup

I too am getting crashes even when opening an aep file, and the fix with the homescreen is unfortunately not helping. This issue just started for me yesterday, so hopefully it will be temporary.

We are aware that some are experiencing a crash due to a new home screen that was rolled out last week. From another post:
"The issue is caused by an update to the Home Screen feature in AE. There is a fix rolling out. In the mean time, if you can open a project by double clicking the aep file to start AE, that will avoid the crash. Once into AE, if you go to Preferences -> Startup and Repair, and uncheck the Show Homescreen option, that should avoid the problem as well."

But in the case of @supahfox, you are attempting to open an aep and still encounter this issue so the homescreen might be at play, but something else is happening where you can not launch ae with an aep load. I am not seeing recent crashes in our system.

On this - I don't see any recent crashes if we have the right e-mail for you. You could message it to me, but I think we have the right one as it tracks with your previous crashing issue. 

Are you always opening AE by opening an aep or are you opening the application directly?

Also I've tried to downgrade AE version and use safe mode
