After Effects > juni 2024 update | Camera Raw import color issues

 

Hello, ever since the june update I've got a big color difference between Camera Raw and the timeline.

It looks like a wrong profile, but whatever I do in the color settings (project) or RAW settings the problems stays. I've never had such a color/contrast shift before, this different than the regular profile problems.

Photoshop does not have this problem and both my Mac Mini and Macbook pro 2017 have this problem.

It becomes dark and purple in AE, it seems to have happened after the update on both macs.

Is this a software issue? It have tried all available color settings in After Effects and the RAW preview looks fine.

 

Mac OS Sonoma 14.5

After Effects 24.5

Mac Mini M2 16gb

 

Actions;

Import Camera Raw file (Canon 100d) - works fine on all other software

Raw importer shows correct color, timeline doesn't (see pictures)

    A fix for this issue is now available in Beta builds, starting with AE 25.0 build 11. If you are able to install Beta builds, we'd love to know if the issue is resolved for you.

    Sorry the trouble on this. There is a bug in the Camera Raw code that is causing the color shift. We are currently testing a fix and are working to have it resolved for the 24.6 release. 24.4 or earlier won't have this issue if it is blocking you.

    Can confirm this, I'm having the same problem since the 24.5 update. Camera Raw Preview looks fine, but timeline way too green. No effects, just a Canon .CR2 Sequence.

    Hi there, 

     

    I'm having trouble with DNG image sequences imported into AE 24.5.

     

    This is what I see in the Camera RAW import window:

     

    Colors all lovely and bright! 

     

    But when I drop them into a comp in AE 24.5, I get this:

    Gross! 

     

    For comparison, this is what I get in AE 23.6: 

    Colors lovely and bright just as they should be.

     

    The project color settings are the same for both the AE 23.6 and AE 24.5 examples: 

    Color engine: Adobe color-managed

    Bit depth: 16 bits per channel

    Working color space: None

    Assume working gamma: 2.4 (Rec 709)

     

    System is Macbook Pro with M1 Max, Sonama 14.5

     

    Any ideas what's up?

    We do, but there isn't really any fix right now except going back to 24.4.

     

    Sparing most of the technical details, the color transform is not being set correctly when the DNG sequence is being read by the Camera Raw plugin. 

     

    I'm literally working on testing a fix for it today to hopefully fix it in 24.6.

      • Sistema Operacional: Windows 11 - 23H2 - compilação 22631.3810
      • Passos para reproduzir: importar um arquivo .CR3 em alguma composição
      • Resultado esperado: reproduzir as cores conforme o acerto dos controles de importação RAW (a visualização de importação está normal, o problema só acontece na composição)
      • Resultado atual: ao importar arquivos .CR3 para o After, a cor na visualização está ficando errada (a foto fica esverdeada e dessaturada, quase monocromática).

      We can get it checked. Do you get the same preview in Photoshop or Camera Raw? Can you share a screenshot of how it looks compared to how it should look?
