After Effects Crashing When Accessing top Menus - Windows 11

Having issues for a while now.

After Effects refuses to run smoothly on my PC anymore.

The biggest issue is when trying to access the menus at the top of the software - e.g. File, Edit, Composition etc.

 

This causes After Effects to freeze for roughly 30secs to 1 minute. The menu then opens, but I'm unable to access the information in it, I'm also unable to open any other programs while this is happening. Total freeze

It's been an excellent opportunity to learn all the shortcuts, but I'm beginning to lose my will. Please help. I have tried reinstalling AE and graphic drivers, purging etc.

    We are trying to figure out the Why - that said, if you are using AE 23.4, there is a new Properties Panel you can open which has the same Character/Paragraph settings but doesn't seem to exhibit this problem. You could try that.

    This seems to have solved the initial freezing! Thank you! Hopefully will last.

     

    My question is - why?? But Additionally need to use the character panel often so what is the bug that is causing this and are there any other workarounds.

    See if closing the Character Panel from your workspace helps with this
