After Effects not importing .glb files – NVIDIA driver issue

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share an issue I recently faced in case it helps others. Until last week, After Effects was importing .glb files without any problems. Suddenly, it stopped working, and I couldn’t import any .glb files at all.

At first, I thought the problem was with After Effects itself, but after troubleshooting I found out the cause: the latest NVIDIA GPU driver update. (Aug 19 2025)

  • With the newest NVIDIA driver installed (Aug 19 2025): After Effects cannot import .glb files.

  • After rolling back to the previous NVIDIA driver:  everything works again, and After Effects imports .glb files normally.

So the issue is related to the NVIDIA driver update, not After Effects. I have already reported this to NVIDIA so they can fix it in a future release, but I wanted to post this here in case other users run into the same issue.

If anyone else has experienced this, I recommend rolling back your GPU driver until NVIDIA releases a fix.

Hey @nedim_8459 , thanks for the report and glad you're up and running again. I just installed the Game Ready driver (581.08) from yesterday on my 4070 Super and I'm still able to import GLBs. Model loading doesn't use the GPU at all, so to narrow this down more, I have a few questions:

  1. When you say you couldn't import any GLBs, did you get a specific error blocking the import?
  2. Did this happen on all projects or just specific ones?
  3. Did this happen with all GLBs or just specific ones?
  4. You mentioned that you were importing GLBs last week, so what happpened if you opened a project that already had GLBs imported? Did they render in the Advanced 3D renderer or show something else? Perhaps just a bounding box?
  5. What exact version of After Effects are you running? Not just 2024/2025, but the actual version number from Help > About After Effects?

Thanks,
- David, After Effects Engineering Team
