After Effects Project File reverted to a file I haven't touched in 6 months

Ok this is a completely new one for me, and from what I found online, no one has really experienced this same issue. A couple of days ago I was going to start on a new project. I had some existing assets from an old project file I wanted, so I copy and pasted a version of my old project into a new folder. I realized this was not the correct file, so I deleted it, found the correct one I was looking for, and started working on my project from there. Fast forward two days of working later, and I go to open my project, only to find that it's the project file I originally copy and pasted, then deleted, from multiple days ago. It has the same name as what I've been working on the past few days, but all the content is from the afforementioned project. When checking the properties of the file, it says it was last modified September 2024, even though I literally made changes to it and saved less than an hour ago. It's as if my past two days of work just reverted back in time out of thing air. I have my most recent render, but my project file is completely toast. Also, my auto saves folder has also disappeared. It seems I have no way of recovering my file, and I'm not sure how this happened. ANY HELP WELCOMED!

Hi @maxjchan,

is your project located on a cloud sync folder like dropbox/oneDrive/synologyDrive/etc... ?

This really looks like a failed sync state of a cloud backup system that replaced the file with the old one.
