After Effects v23.4 not updating changes in original ai file

Hello,

The last version of after effects (23.4.0) doesn't update changes to my original Illustrator file. I've imported it as Composition - Retain Layers Sizes, using ctrl+e (edit original) as usual. In Illustrator I tried making a color change and changing a shape, then saved and closed it. When returned to After Effects, the changes have not been updated. I purged, reloaded footage, and even closed after effects and opened it again. Nothing worked. I opened the original file again with ctrl+e and the change I made was undone. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm on Windows 11, using the latest version of Illustrator (27.5). Haven't tried this with Photoshop files yet.
