Any time I use a "cc" effect, AE crashes immediately

So far it's happened with CC sphere (which used to work) and CC SpotLight. I am sure it will probably do the same with most of the other CC effects, but frankly, I don't want to keep crashing it.

We have identified the issue and are working on releasing a 23.6.6 build, hopefully in about a week from now that will restore the CC plugins for macOS 11 users.

Thank you for submitting that crash report, @Mohamed24672447773r. It appears that there is a crash occurring with the bundled Cycore aka "CC" effects in After Effects version 23.6.5. We have a ticket open and are now investigating.

While our investigation is in progress, I would recommend using the prior version 23.6.4, or updating to the latest version 24.3.

Thanks again,

Good morning,

I'm new to After Effects and following a tutorial to animate text stretching. So, I created my text, found the effect name (CC Scale Wipe) in the "Effects & Presets" panel, and dragged it onto my text layer in the timeline. After that, when I tried to adjust the effect values to use it, After Effects instantly crashed with this icon appearing (IMG 1).

Then, when I reopen my After Effects file, I get this window (IMG 2) popping up... I've tried all the buttons to reopen my file and then attempt to use the "CC Scale Wipe" effect again, but it crashes every time...

I've tried everything... I've cleared my After Effects disk cache, purged its memory, and increased its maximum disk cache size from 46 to 90 GB... I'm not sure if it's helpful...

Many other effects work, but the one I'd like to use just won't cooperate ://

If anyone has any ideas or solutions, I'd be very grateful!!!

(For your information, I'm using a Mac with Big Sur - version 11.6 - with 16 GB of RAM, and my After Effects version is 2023.)

Thanks a lot in advance!!!! Have a great day :)))

Hi @ECOLE ESTIENN368236674ll2,

Thank you for reporting this issue. We are aware of a crash with the Cycore (aka "CC") effects in After Effects 23.6.5 on macOS 11 and a fix is being investigated. I'll be merging this report with our existing reports of the same issue and will be updating the thread once a fix is available.

Thanks again,

Hi @Mohamed24672447773r,

Thank you for reporting this issue. When After Effects crashes after applying a CC effect, have you been able to submit a crash report with your email address? Those reports are immensely helpful as we try to investigate the underlying cause.

Additionally, what are your system specs and what version of After Effects are you currently using?

Thank you for any additional information you can provide,

- John, After Effects Engineering Team
