autosave before start render option does not work in AE26.5

The 26.5 version seems to be really problematic. It crashes a lot when I am rendering project with timeremaped video and I have no autosaves to save my previous work because it just does nothing before render, even when I have Autosave before render ON in preferences.. Sadly need to downgrade also on other machine too..

Hi vobrazovka, sorry to hear you've hit issues on 26.5.

A few details that would help escalate both of these to the AE team:

1. Your system specs.

2. For the render crash: is it specifically time-remapped video, or does it also happen with un-remapped footage? What codec is the source video (H.264 MP4, ProRes MOV, etc.)?

3. Are there any error messages.

4. If any crash reporter dialogs appear, please include your email address before submitting.

Once I have those, I'll get them to the product team. Thanks for the reports.

It was the h264 mp4 with pixel flow. Two times it quit AE, but not always.. sometime. even after restart. Then I was forced to downgrade as that was not the only one problem I had and did not try so long, for hour or two and I had two AE quits without warn.. just disapearing

Windows 11, 12 core AMD,128GB RAM, NVidia 4070. , fast SSD for cache, fast SSD for system, project is on shared file server as usualy (not ideal, but it works for years..)

Thanks for sharing the details. If you decide to switch back to the latest version (which I'd recommend), here are a few things we'll need if it happens again:

1. Check if it's happening in a specific project or in all of them. Also test in a brand new empty project.

2. In case of a crash, please insert your email address in the crash reporter dialog and submit it. That lets us pull the exact crash log on our side.

3. If no crash reporter appears after the crash, please generate an AE log with these steps:

- Launch AE.

- Help menu > Enable Logging.

- Restart AE.

- Reproduce the crash.

- Restart AE, then Help menu > Reveal Logging Files.

- Find "After Effects Log.txt", open it, and paste the contents here (or attach the file).

With those, we should be able to give engineering everything they need.
