Cannot open AE file anymore

Hi all

I am having some issues opening my master AE file to export simple adverts. It seems to crash the moment i open it.

I am getting errors of :

  • After Effects error: cannot reopen an open file. (3: 130)
  • This project contains a reference to a missing effect. Please install the following effect to restore this reference.
    • "Fill"
  • After Effects can't continue: Fill plug-in generated an unexpected exception.
  • After Effects can't continue: Gaussian Blur (Legacy) plug-in generated an unexpected exception.


The file has worked fine for days but randomly started doing this today. Some links have also been lost. Im not sure what is happening

I have enough memory on the mac and am currently running 15.0.1 (24A348) and running the latest AE software v 25.1

Can anyone help with this?

Have you changed anything with your system's configuration, the project and/or footage files' locations, or any other aspects of your AE environment between when it was working and now?

And are you seeing this behavior generally or is it specific to a certain AE project file?

You may want to look for a recent auto save version of your project available. Normally AE place auto save folders where your project is saved. Hopefully a recent auto save version will be helpful to you.
