When user selecting 3D object and pressing F button, 3d view centering to selected object. But this feature work only when you're using tools for camera movement (Orbit, Pan, Dolly).
Since 2026 its possible to use Alt+Mouse to move camera view, even when using  any other tools like Selection tool, Pan, Rotation, Text etc. But in this case F-cenetring doesn't work.

Thank you for advice! I changed it to Shift+F and now it works with any selected tool

There's an alternate version of the shortcut for centering in view that works when the camera tool is not active. I have mine set to cmd+opt+shift+\, but you can customize this by going to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts.

The reason is that Alt + Mouse navigation doesn’t actually switch your tool to a camera mode — it just temporarily lets you orbit or pan while still technically in another tool. So when you press F, the program doesn’t realize you’re trying to frame the selected object because the “frame” command only triggers inside the camera tool context.

Basically, it’s not that it’s broken — it’s just how it’s coded. The new universal Alt + Mouse navigation works great for quick view moves, but it doesn’t carry over the full camera tool features like framing. The only workaround right now is to quickly switch to a camera tool, press F, then go back to what you were doing. Not ideal, but that’s how it behaves.

If the software you’re using supports scripting or custom shortcuts, you could make a macro that forces the “frame selected” command to work no matter what tool you’re on. But yeah, this feels like something the devs should really fix in an update.
