Channel Blur produces random NaNs in 32 bit mode

The channel blur plugin produces NaNs in 32 bit mode, especially when "repeat edge pixels" is on. The NaNs are on random frames every time the composition is rendered. This happens on both Windows and Macs, with the latest public release.

While the NaNs can be hard to see as individual pixels, they cause major problems when other effects are rendered on top.

I have attached an example project that reproduces this, and includes some rendered examples as well.

I'm sorry to insist, but I'm pretty sure this is still happening in After Effects 2025 25.1.0

I think this issue is back in After Effects 2025, I've started having big NaN problems with Channel Blur, Minimax, Fast Box Blur and other native effects. I don't always find the effects causing it, so I don't know how to fix it...

Thanks, I re-rendered my exampled project using AE 2024 and it rendered fine with no NaNs!  Thaty's great, thanks for addressing this issue.  If I experience any more problems I'll let you know but so far so good.

Hey Chris.

Are you able to repro this issue with the latest version of After Effects 24.0.1?

We were able the issue with AE 23.6 but it should be fixed with the latest AE build.

Please let us know.

Thanks,

Joy - After Effects QE

Hello Chris.

We are unable to repro this issue on our side with the given project. Could you please provide us with the missing .jpg file so that we can try with that in case it makes a difference?

Thanks,

After Effects QE.
