Creating shape from vector layer from paths creating solid box

Hi, I have been having an issue since updating to After Effects 26. I use Adobe Libraries to transfer vectors from Illustrator to After Effects. Since the update, 75% of the time, my paths turn into solid boxes without any individual paths when I use the Create Shapes from Vector Layer command in AE. There are no individual shape paths or anything (see attached). It happens for compound paths as well as normal paths seemingly at random.

I don’t want to have to release everything to layers and import a full AI file every time I want to transfer a shape from AI to AE. This has been a real annoyance, so if anyone has suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

    That's not ideal. Sorry to hear about the issue.


    For testing, can you save a .Ai file with the same artwork and import it into After Effects? Also, can you install After Effects version 25.x and import the same artwork that doesn't work in version 26? I just tested it on my end and it seems to be working fine.

    It seems like importing an AI file works. 

    AE 25 isn’t working now either. I also downgraded Illustrator to see if the newest versions weren’t compatible with each other, but that didn’t help—still getting a solid box through the libraries. I’ve had intermittent issues with my Adobe Libraries for a couple years (the white boxes behind all graphics making it hard to see the objects, freezing panels, etc.) so a problem with the libraries doesn’t seem too far out of the question.
