exr layers only updated on AE relaunch

Reloading .exr footage does not update any multipass layers. You need to close and reopen AE for the extractor layers to update.

Thanks Paul.

Dont need automatic updating. If the current list of AOVs was updated by manually updating the footage, that would be enough.

Even adding the sequence again as new footage seems to retain the AOV list in extractor that the original sequence had, so AE is remembering the AOVs somehow. Only an AE restart seems to update it. (not even closing the project/reopening)

Ahh, I see what you're wanting it to do. Unfortunately, much like our layered Photoshop import, EXR import is not architected to dynamically update the addition or removal of "layer" elements themselves.

Is it also the case that simply reloading the footage does not update?

There are many aspects of attempting to do this updating automatically that are challenging to get correct from the user's intent perspective. What should happen to exisitng Compositions when the layer structures get changed externally — particularly when new items are added?

I will add this to our feature backlog.

Sure.

  1. Import an exr sequence
  2. Apply extractor and see list of available aovs
  3. Rerender the exr sequence with a new aov
  4. New aov is not available in extractor until after AE restarts. Ideally, just reloading the sequence should show the new aovs.

I'm attempting to reproduce the issue, but realize I really need your full set of user steps to understand the scenario.

Can you walk me through — step by step — from when you initially have an EXR imported with ExtractoR applied, to when you expect to see it updated?

Thx!
