Font changes from Open Sans to Helvetica while typing the letter L

I am currently working on an AE comp (v. 23.1.o Build 83 - Mac OS Monterey v 12.6). I created a new comp and some text layers and discovered when typing the word "PEOPLE", the letter L automatically shows up as lower case and when I try to type it UPPER case it changes the font to Helvetica. It only happens when using the Extra Bold font style.

Restarting AE seems to have fixed it... for now.

It's happening for me too. Whenever I type the letter H in a custom font, it changes to Helvetica.

Same, also forcing the first letter to Times New Roman

Currently having this same issue. The only way I can maintain the same font is by holding shift. It just randomly started. Like, a minute ago everything was fine then suddenly, the next time I type, it keeps forcing me to use times new roman

@JohnColombo17100380  I guess at this point there is enough info to regognize this as a problem with some manually added fonts.

My problem is related to "Mona Sans" that was downloaded from Google Fonts.

No faux settings.

Normal text, Cappital or lower letters, mostly - t , n , m and numbers and more often when the weight is selected to "Light".

If I manually select the broken letter and I set it to Mona Sans it works. If I change the font and go back to Mona Sans I have to manually fix the broken characters again.

Running Windows 11 and After Effects 25.2.0

I can confirm. I have the same problem. Font that was installed in my system changes to Times New Roman mid typing or a single letter or number will be in that font.

This just happened to me while using a custom font--the solution was to restart AE.

Also still noticing this on every 16th character typed locking into Helvetica and not allowing the font to change
