Glitch in Timeline

I was editing in Premiere then for some Motion Graphics work, took the file to After Effects. I tried simple text animation with masking over the speaker's profile. The timeline when in playback is glitching, showing clips from different point of the video. This is a new PC and my configurations as follows:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600T

GPU: Nvidia 3060 12 GB

RAM: 32 GB

Appreciate the help!

Edit: Attaching the glitching video recording for reference.

Try transcoding the MP4 to ProRes 422 LT QuickTime outside of After Effects and then use File > Replace Footage to swap it out.

I usually use Shutter Encoder (donationware, but you can set the recommended donation to $0).

I've noticed this as well. Purging memory and disk cache resolves the issue, until it occurs again. Appears to have started just recently, within the last month or so. I only rarely use after effects for short infographics stuff; using .mp4 hevc and avc sources though.

Hi Adobe Team,

In need of a solution promptly. Have done all your suggestions and using the latest version. A Reply would be nice.

1. Go to Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache.

2. Install the latest version of After Effects (25.3).

3. Install the latest Studio driver from Nvidia.

Appreciate the help!

Thanks for creating the detailed post.

Is it happening with any other project as well? What are the details of the media you're working with? Is it a screen recording, or was it recorded on a phone? Can you try changing the location of Disk Cache (After Effects Preferences > Media & Disk Cache)?

Let us know.

Thanks,
Nishu

Hi Nishu,

Thanks for the ideas, I tried them and it did not fix the problem. Its not constantly glitching but can expect the glitch in every 4-5 mins. As you mentioned the Nvidia driver was older, fixed that and check for all other hardware's drivers even. Quick help is much appreciated. Attaching the video for your reference.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the issue. What version of After Effects are you using? Are you sending any files from Premiere Pro to After Effects using Dynamic Link or starting a new project in After Effects? Here are a few steps you can try:

1. Go to Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache.

2. Install the latest version of After Effects (25.3).

3. Install the latest Studio driver from Nvidia.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Nishu
