Latest update - taking a long time to paint (load and display) a composition

I have a project which is relatively complex with quite a few expressions in pre-comps to animate characters.

Since updating to the latest version of AE it is taking up-to 45 seconds to load and 'paint' the composition when double clicking to display it.

 

For example, I just dragged a simple vector shape into a scene and it took 45 seconds to display the new composition layer. Once displayed it's fine.

 

I have the same project in the previous version of AE and it was much much faster to display. What's going on? Is anyone else having this issue? It's killing my workflow. (and yes my Nvidia 3090 graphics card drivers are up-to-date with a studio driver).

Thank you for posting to the forum. Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Once the item is in your composition, does the paint return to normal? Is it specifically when adding vector shapes or are there other additions to comps where you experience this issue?

Lastly, if possible, could you include a short screen recording demonstrating the issue? This would help us to reproduce this on our side to do further investigations.
