Minor but annoying UI bugs

After Effect 25.1.0 - MacBook Pro M3 Max - Mac os 15.2 (24C101) - (all in French)

I would like to report some recent bugs, minor but annoying. All concern the import and save UI. As they are not fatal, they could go unnoticed and persist for a long time.

  1. To import a media by double-clicking in the 'project' window, you have to do it twice, the first time the import dialog window opens and closes by itself immediately.
  2. Previously, you could retrieve the name of a file by clicking on it in the save dialog box. The file extension was automatically replaced by the After Effect extension (.aep). Now, the two extensions are kept one behind the other (for example file.prproj.aep), too bad.
  3. Some projects saved with custom workspaces no longer open (to the point of having to force quit the application). They remain available by importing them into a new blank project.

Overall, it seems to be a communication issue between the interface of the latest Mac Os and the latest version of After Effects.

Love you guys 8^)

problem #3 ultimately not solved. After freeze when I try to open some projects. Projects I can import into a new empty project and save, so not big deal but odd. E.g., this file (I'll keep it here for a week 8^)

Salut, Hi,

thanks for taking the time to answer me.

Following this, I did some tests and, surprise, problem #1 disappeared. I tried to reproduce it by opening several applications (including Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator and Acrobat, Mail, Safari, etc.) but for now it's fine. I'll keep you posted if, when and how it comes back.

Problem #2 persists but I finally understood that it only does it with Premiere files in '.prproj'. It may be intentional and I'll get used to it (but I don't really approve ;^). Btw, I enabled 'always show extension files' in the Mac Os Finder settings.

For problem #3, I already reorganized and re-saved new custom workspaces. The old ones dated from previous versions of After Effects. Since then, the problem is no more.

Otherwise, as an answer, yes, I am also using Dropbox v215.4.7202.

Hello / bonjour,

I have tried reproducing your issue with AE 25.1.0 on Mac OS but I cannot reproduce so far (On a Macbook pro M1). I'm going to continue investigating and will report back if I find a way to reproduce it.

In the meantime, are there any other apps actively running when you use AE, like Another Adobe App, or a file sync/sharing app?

Thanks,
Sébastien, After Effects Quality Engineering
