Multiframe Rendering in AE screws up Dynamic Links in Premiere
I detailed my issues in a forum post here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/disabling-multiframe-rendering-in-after-effects-solved-nearly-all-of-my-dynamic-linking-issues/m-p/13261347#M213005
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU - intel i9 9900K (3.6GHz)
GPU - RTX 2080 Black Edition (8GB VRAM, GDDR6)
RAM - 64GB @3200Mhz
After Effects 22.0 through current (22.6)
Premiere Pro 22.0 through current (22.6.2)
I did not realize until recently disabling After Effects' Multiframe Rendering feature that it was the source of all my problems. Here is a list of the issues I have been experiencing relative to my workflow since upgrading to AE & Premiere 2022:
- When AE & PP are open simultaneously, saving AE breaks every Dynamic Link in PP and they need to be re-linked manually.
- When AE & PP are open simultaneously, closing AE breaks every Dynamic Link in PP and they need to be re-linked manually.
- When AE & PP are open simultaneously, AE is unable to complete rendering compositions in the composition window or the Render Queue, eventually freezing and requiring a hard reset.
- PP is unable to render or export timelines with Dynamic Links whether or not AE is open simultaneously, eventually freezing and requiring a hard reset.
- Media Encoder is unable to render timelines sent from PP that have Dynamic Links in them, eventually freezing and requiring a hard reset.
- AE & PP being open simultaneously will eventually cause the computer to lock up
To be clear
A) None of the above issues were present until upgrading to AE & PP 2022
B) All of the above issues went away after disabling multiframe rendering* in AE
(*Changing the "% CPU reserved for other applications" value had no effect on the issues described above)
