Opening an AE project file in finder does not open it in AE unless AE app is already open.

Directly opening a project file (doubleclick or right click > open) while AE is not already opened, results in simply opening the app, not loading the project itself.
I find this behaviour counter to expectations, and wish it would load the project as well, like all other Adobe apps do. Currently you have to open the project twice, once to load AE and once more to actually load the project.
Is there some reason why AE does not do this?
Is it a bug?
(same behavior with zero plugins installed, consistent through all available modern AE CC versions)

Hi @OlaTan,

That's odd and definitely not normal or desired behavior. If you hit Cmd+I while a .aep is selected, can you please post a screenshot of the entire Info panel? Does the "Open With" section display the version of AE that you would expect it to? Here's a snipped of what I see, but please do post the full Info panel for your aep.

Thanks,
