Output preset High Quality (ProRes) in 8 Bit Colors?

I noticed that the premade output preset “High Quality, which uses ProRes 422 is set to 16.7 millions colors which is 8-Bit per Channel. Why? ProRes 422 is 10 Bit codec, so the setting should be set to billions colors.
Of course I can change it myself, but in my eyes the preset should be corrected, many people render their movies in bad color quality.

Hi @pixler777,

Sorry for the delayed response. I've filed a bug so this can be investigated. Will share as soon as there's an update.

Thanks,

Nishu

The default new project format may still be 8bpc, so both need to be changed.

Hi Nishu

any news on that issue? As I can see it has not been solved in 26.3.0 (Build 87)
I think it is quite an issue if thousands of movies around the world will be output in low color quality.
And it looks like nearly nobody is aware of this mistake.
Not nice :-(

Thanks for reaching out and flagging this. I see the same behaviour on my end. Let me reach out to the product team for more info on this. I'll update as soon as I have something.

I appreciate your patience.

Thanks,

Nishu
